From what you've written wincam, you believe that it is baptism that in restoring sonship, is when we become Christian.

The biblical patten is belief followed bt baptism, not baptism followed by belief.

so is it belief followed by water and spirit - it seems belief counts for very little without the water and spirit for even the devils believe but will not be baptized - wincam

Romans4v3 For what does the Scripture say? ?ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.?
Believing in God is what imputes God's righteousness upon us.
v9Is this blessing then on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say, ?FAITH WAS CREDITED TO ABRAHAM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.? 10How then was it credited? While he was circumcised, or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but while uncircumcised;
Abraham was circumcised AFTER believing and receiving God's own righteousness. Circumcision was merely a sign after the event.

Likewise baptism is a sign that we undertake following our believing.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

How are you using 'belief' wincam
Yes the devils believe, but they have rejected God. Christians believe and seek to follow God.
Belief results in action and belief in God results either in rejection or submission.

For the Christian that means seeking to obey Jesus's commands.

Remember we are saved by Gods gift of faith, not by any work, rite or worship we do.

Baptism is merely an outwould sign it is not the reality.

Hi
just thinking which baptism are we to seek after all John the Baptist said.

Mat 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

was the baptism of John only for the Jews a baptism of repentance

Act 13:24  When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

Johns water baptism was the cleansing of Israel so they could receive there Messiah but the baptism we seek is the baptism of the spirit and fire we receive this by being washed in the water which is the word of God.

Love and Peace
Dave
