Nicodemus got it right
« on: December 05, 2017, 09:48:02 PM »
Christians in their inflated egotism have accepted that whilst Nicodemus did not understand they do - the opposite is in fact true - not only is it required that we be born as Christians via water and spirit but as little Christian children that simply simply believe[Jn 20:31] for it seems in spite of what adults say and accept Jesus said it is very difficult if not impossible for adults to simply simply believe[Mt 18:3] - wincam

Children belief many things as the whole world is a wonder to them.
Us adualts have a life time of experience, knowledge and pride that makes belief in something as simple as the gospel difficult.

As a little child in a non Christian family, long before I heard anything of what Jesus did, I believed in God.
I heard God speak to me and knew that he lived in my heart because he said so.
As a child I knew that neither I nor anyone else was good, but God had made the way. I knew that because God told me.
As a child I also knew that eternal life was dependant on God, not man's goodness, again because I heard God tell me.

I did not hear what Jesus did till someone gave me the gospel in my mid twenties. I then realised he was talking about the God I already knew.

After accepting their gospel, it took some time before I got the theology into my head, but I realised that I had been born again some time in my early childhood as the Holy Spirit worked on my spirit.

Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Cariad,
"Nothing justifies an action which was not borne of love. I have searched for some justification into the wee small hours of the night, and found no comfort. "

We donot have to justify our actions. If they are wrong we confess them to God. If we have hurt someone we apologise to them.

Next time you go that way allow extra time and speak to them. They don't expect loving actions so your copncern could start a doubt that could grow into questions and lead to salvation.

My heart is heavy this morning, my spirit chastened and cast down, for I acted ungraciously towards a complete stranger yesterday. A sweet smiling face which would normally have received a return of equal warmth, received   the outpouring of a heart that was chilled and hardened by the sight of a stand of leaflets bearing the doctrine of an organisation which ensnares the unwary into believing it's error.

I saw in that face, so warm and inviting, which held the invitation to come in, to warm myself at her fire, read the 'Awake' magazine with her, and become party to it's seduction, and I reacted, but not with love. My heart was lead, my eyes, steel, my tone sharp.

Nothing justifies an action which was not borne of love. I have searched for some justification into the wee small hours of the night, and found no comfort.

Only God can make rightous judgements: only He can deliver, only He can save.

Don't beat yourself up about it Cariad. If your spirit is chastened and cast down, it is only like that because you have a heart that's soft towards God. A hard heart would remain blind and deaf to such things.

Jesus paid dearly for all our failures, if you keep beating yourself up, you are acting like His death isn't sufficient to cover what happened yesterday.
You know He loves you, let go of yesterday and start receiving his love right now.

But you are right, only God can make righteous judgements.
We believers make all sorts of rules, in many ways just like the Pharisees did, and indeed like Peter did when he refused to kill and eat what he thought as "unclean", ie. Cornelius, whom God already considered clean.

The Lord is able to move on anyone whose heart is open to the conviction of his Holy Spirit.

Hi
It seams we have become cross threaded we started with Nicodemus got it right and now we are on The importance of Christian witness all on the same thread a bit confusing to say the least.

Quote from Cariad

In defence of the JWs with out them I would not be where I am to day because of them I picked up my bible and started to read it not for the right reasons I mite add it was only so I could have a good argument with them now I don't argue with them but treat them with love and respect.

And who is to say they are right or wrong I just done a google on how many Christian denominations there are and got this answer.

Quote
How many Christian denominations are there in the world today?
As there are reported to be approximately 41,000 Christian denominations (figure includes overlap between countries), many of which cannot be verified to be significant, only those denominations with Wikipedia articles will be listed in order to ensure that all entries on this list are notable and verifiable.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations

41.000 and most of them  say different things different theology different interpretations so which one shall we believe now I understand what Wincam is getting at there is so much written about the scripture its hard to see the wood for the trees.

so the question is should we accept all these denominations as Christians in LOVE and let God do the judging for God judges what's in the heart we can not do that so we should not judge.

So I believe our best bet is to stick as close to the scriptures as possible everything that came after the amen in revelations should be treated with the utmost caution.

Love and Peace
