in Hebrews 1:1 we are told God spoke through the prophets and then later by His son and now at Lk 10:16 we are told by His Church and not just any John, Richard or Mary - twinc

'He that heareth you heareth Me;
and he that despiseth you despiseth Me;
and he that despiseth Me despiseth Him that sent Me.'

(Luk 10:16)

Hello @wincam,

Thank you for responding.

However, Luke 10:16, is spoken to the seventy (Luk.10:1), who had been commissioned and equipped for the work they were sent out to do.  It is not spoken to us, today.  It is Christ, 'the Son,' through Whom God spoke in those 'last days' of Hebrews 1. The Hebrew believers 'heard' through 'them that heard Him' (Heb.2:3), namely the Twelve, God confirming their witness 'with signs following' (Mark 16:20).  That is not the experience of those who preach the gospel today.

We now, 'hear', through the Scriptures that testify of Christ.  For faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Thank you for your correction, @wincam, but I did in fact say that we 'hear', by means of God's Word (the Scriptures). That applies to 'hearing' through the preaching of it,  or the reading of it.  Whatever means by which we 'Hear' - it is the hearing of God's Word itself which brings Faith. I cannot be clearer than that.
