just old hat - even now thousands flock to the likes of Billy Graham believing they must be born again etc so not only are they wrong but also Billy Graham so also was the case with John the Baptist - btw never ever heard whether Billy Graham was born again - twinc

Hi Wincam

Joh 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

So Christ got it wrong as well.

we must try and understand this as it is written - the baptism of John was the baptism of gentiles into Judaism
This is factually wrong wincam. John was baptising the Jews from the surrounding territory.
Mark1v4And so John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 5The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.

but was misunderstood then to include jews same as born again now is misunderstood by Christians to include them - what is even more surprising and is not asked is why did John and Mary and the Apostles not hurry to be baptised like every body else - wincam
John's baptism wasn't conducted in a prissy tiled baptistry pool, where the church deacons keeping a list of all those entering the waters.
John was standing in a flowing river and dunking anyone who wanted it, and the fact that there is no list is because it is irrelevant to the story.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)
