1 Corinthians 9:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.

1 Corinthians 9:10 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

10 Or does he not speak entirely for our sake? It was indeed written for our sake, for whoever plows should plow in hope and whoever threshes should thresh in hope of a share in the crop.

These are my thoughts.
We are to work but we can have faith that God will make our work fruitful.

'For it is written in the law of Moses,
"Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox
that treadeth out the corn."
Doth God take care for oxen?
Or saith He it altogether for our sakes?
For our sakes, no doubt, this is written:
that he that ploweth should plow in hope;
and that he that thresheth in hope
should be partaker of his hope.'

( 1 Corinthians 9:10 )

Hello Clark,

Praise God!

* That all is said and done 'for our sakes'!

Praise God! -  For His mercy, His grace, and His great love.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

1 Corinthians 9:11 King James Version (KJV)
11 If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?

1 Corinthians 9:11
NSB 11 If we sow spiritual seed in you, is it too much if we reap material things?

These are my thoughts.
We reap and then we sow. Evangelism and Discipleship are both needed in life.

Hi Clark
here is a bit more to it than jest that one verse is there not.

1Co 9:11  If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
1Co 9:12  If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
1Co 9:13  Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
1Co 9:14  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
1Co 9:15  But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.

Although Paul had a right to live of the Gospel he did not use that right and as he says in another place he worked with his hands not to be a burden to the ones he preached to.
In another place he saw to it that money collected was sent to the church in Jerusalem I think the moral of the story is we should help those in need and not be a burden to the church if we have sufficient for our needs.

Love and Peace
Dave

1 Corinthians 9:12
KJV 12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
KJC 12 If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but tolerate all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.

These are my thoughts.
We are to not overpower people but to share the power of the Lord Jesus.

1 Corinthians 9:13 King James Version (KJV)

1 Corinthians 9:13
NSB 13 Do you not know that they who minister about holy things live off the things of the temple? And they who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

These are my thoughts.
We are to only live off of what God gives us.

We are to only live off of what God gives us.

Paul is talking about those who work specifically in the service of God - not about everyone in general. The general principle is that we all learn our living from our occupations, and Christian ministers should be no exception. He gives the Jewish priests as an example: they were paid 'in kind' with portions of the offerings.

1 Corinthians 9:14
KJV 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
BLB 14 So also, the Lord has prescribed to those proclaiming the gospel to live from the gospel.

These are my thoughts.
We aren?t to just share thru words but share by living out the gospel, letting Him change our lives.
