Drakester, I asked:

Does Jesus go overboard in trying to express the incredible seriousness of sin?

"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off.  It is better for you to enter
into life maimed rather than having two hands and go to hell" (Mark 9:43)

I suppose you could always answer the question!

@Browner I notice you evade answering the question I posed, so I shall try again.-
Do you still have all four limbs, and your eyeballs?

Once I get a sensible answer from you, I shall also answer the question, and then explain why I ask.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Don't bother asking or answering any more, okay?
"Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey,
you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether
(slaves) of sin leading to (eternal) death, or
(slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness?
... so now present your members as
slaves of righteousness for (leading to) holiness." (Romans 6:16-19)

Browner,
             Do you sin?

As John says if we say we do not sin we decieve ourselves.

So what do you do about your deliberate sinning?

Thank you John. You obviously could see where I was headed.

Are you trying to throw me off your thread @Browner? I'm a bit more tenacious than that!
But you obviously don't want to answer my questions do you @Browner?

Following your repeated quotes of judgement and mutilation for sin, I am presuming you must still be in possession of both eyes and all four limbs, otherwise you might find it a tad difficult replying to the thread.

The fact that you haven't mutilated yourself tells me that despite judging everyone else with those verses, you don't honestly apply them to yourself.
Jesus called that hypocrisy.
The only alternative to a mutilated Browner, is that you consider yourself to have achieved a perfect sin free life, and not in need of such mutilation as you point in our direction.

So just to be clear, taking into account all your bluster, you @Browner, are faced with one of two choices,-
1). You must have always lived, and must continue always to live, a totally perfect and sin free life.
The penalty for failure according to your repeated posts is,-
2). Bodily mutilation with the loss of all limbs and eyes etc.
You have no choice @Browner, its one or the other with no middle ground, so which is it Browner?

Now as @John has pointed out,-
Quote
As John says if we say we do not sin we deceive ourselves (1John1v8)

That puts you in a spot of bother doesn't it? If scripture says it is self deception to claim a sinless life, then Browner, according to you, the only other choice is mutilation.

Now I suspect that John is like me, a dirty rotten sinner failing again and again, but lost in the love of God, and utterly dependent on the redeeming blood of Christ.

Browner, I personally think you need to reconsider your thread as you have dug a big hole for yourself and then fallen in it.

If you don't get back to us, do we assume you have done the deed?

Just thought @Browner, that they might be open to your spare arms, legs and eyeballs.
