How good a christian do you think Moses was?
« on: August 27, 2017, 12:42:19 PM »
So, what do people think?

How good a Christian was Moses?

Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Moses was anointed by God. Yet he had his times of failure as well and wasnt always motivated to be led by God.

I often think though that generally Moses was a great man of God, in chosing to suffer rather than having the special priviledges. This is because he trusted in the Kingdom of God's treasure more.

Hebrews 11:24-26
By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaohs daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.

Far greater than us, as he talked with God face to face.
He knew God and also failed God, just as we do.

Hi
Was Moses a christian dose being Christian require a knowledge of Christ and what he has done and to have faith in it.

Could Moses have faith in something he had not heard of or was it enough to have faith in Gods word.

5  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

5  And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after

Is this faithfulness enough or would he be saved through the law.

Good answer Rose Anna.
But what do you think it means, "esteeming the reproach of Christ", when Christ had not been born?

Just as I do also!

Hi
Was Moses a Christian?
This is the core issue Dave, a real teaser requiring a real answer!
Quote
Does being Christian require a knowledge of Christ and what he has done and to have faith in it?
What do you mean by "knowledge of Christ" (-for someone like Moses living 1000 years prior to his incarnation)?
Quote
Could Moses have faith in something he had not heard of or was it enough to have faith in Gods word.
What do you mean by God's word? Scripture had not yet been written at that point.
Quote
5  And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

5  And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after

Surely you would agree @Dave, that nobody gets "born again" by the Law of Moses?

Thats quite a deep but interesting question. I dont know if Im answering correctly.  Would you mind expanding my answer?
It seems to me that although it was before Christ was born in human form He was obviously alive as the Word of God and known.
To know has a deeper context. 1 Samuel 3:7 1 Samuel 3:21
From the relationship with God the people had a revelation of what was valid and valuable in God's Kingdom and what wasnt by the worlds values.
