God has called His people to be the Salt of the Earth, as well as the Light of the Earth.

Without the Salt, the world loses its flavour.
Without the Light, the world is in darkness.

Therefore in considering this I was thinking about how the Salt and light should be, to the rest of the world.

It was in quiet time reflections, and then seeing if the scriptures fit afterwards.

God speaks into our hearts and has made Himself known to us, through the beauty and wonder of His Creation. This is how He spoke and reached out to me.
That is about the most precious thing that happened to me. That others can relate to. Yet for each of us, who is reconciled to God it is an unique experience.
That is a part of how I came to know Christ, but very special to me.
I've seen how others see something divine in creation, but sadly they don't always attribute that to our Creator God.
God is reaching out to them but they don't respond.
Sadly many will perish, unless they turn to God.
Are not those of us who are spared, snatched from the fire, that will consume the enemies of God.
Also known as being under the wrath of God.
God has reached out and been grieved, as He was turned away. Therefore He gave them over to their own desires. I see it all the time and know this very well.

Nevertheless, there maybe occasions, where a person needs empathy and sensitivity, at where they are at and every step of the way.

God's Holy Spirit is working in the hearts of people, in the world. Yet God has a relationship with His people. That relationship is so important that they have an essential role in partaking. Its so important and that is why Jesus said you are  "the Salt of the world and you are the Light of the world." Matthew 5:13-16

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

When and where did you ever see  the Salt and Light in the church, functioning as it should?

Probably where Christ was in the midst and there have been genuine revivals before and the early church functioned as the Body of Christ. Consequently, being the Salt and Light of the world.

Not sure if this is correct but thinking if God's people functioned as the Salt and Light of the world, then they would not quench His Holy Spirit. That's what holds the world together.

Only its known the world is waxing more evil and eventually will bring the tribulation. So God knew that the church wouldn't be functioning and that means the world loses its saltiness and is trampled underfoot. Therefore not giving the world light and protection. I mean less than before.

Therefore the point I want to make is, how should the Salt and the Light of the world be towards the rest of the world.

There are some I admire for standing up for God, in a world that is changing.
Sometimes the sternness of God is needed, with some people and some situations.
Yet, as I have said several times, there are some too, and some situations  where a gentle approach is needed.

This was all thought of in my time with God, who I believe gives a balanced and fair mind.
Then I look in the bible and find I'm indeed backed up.

If you look at each part of this, you can see how what was written two thousand years ago about these days is true about today.

Jude 1:17-25NKJV

But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:  how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts.  These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

Maintain Your Life with God
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,  keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

Please note this is referring to these days and  look what it says about these days.
Colossians 4:5-6
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

This is a posters contribution:
I thought of the effect of salt upon an ice covered path, it melts it, and enables those using the path to walk without falling.  It also prevents putrifaction in food, and helps prevent infection, so corruption is held at bay. It hardens the skin and enables work to be done, and miles to be covered which a tenderfoot, or someone whose fingers are soft, from tackling.  Just thoughts, but they give insight into the effect our witness should have in the Christian community, and outside of it.

Its about being the Salt and light of the world, in putting faith into action, therefore accomplishing the laws of God, by grace, not written by tablets of stones. Yet by the Spirit of God, who is with us in a relationship and speaks into our heart.
It is by overcoming the old nature which is weak, and living by the spirit that God has given us, which is willing, and to activate their part, within the Body of Christ.

The Spirit of God gives everyone a different part.
Its not just caring for others needs and supporting them. For needy people, as well as those we know.
Its deeper still, when the motivation comes from our inner core, through a genuine relationship with God. Its wanting them to have eternal life, through Jesus.
Its having that faith that enables you to love those who do not love you, or even hate you and grievously hurt you.
Prayer is an essential part. Yet God's love is a sacrificial type of love.
Who is willing to lay down their lives for their brothers and sisters?
Which takes me to this. We are in the days of persecution and its not just like it was before in violence. Its that and more. When terrible things occurred before they were known to be terrible things. Yet the same evil spirits are behind the persecutions of the past, as they are today.

It comes out in another form, and is not so clear cut because its become more subtle and sophisticated. It even looks justified sometimes, when God knows when  its not.
God and His people are completely misrepresented.
If they are hurt, then we being the rest of the body are too.
How much do we carry their burdons for them in prayer and support. Even at tremendous risk of being persecuted ourselves?
Those like Stephen had that type of sacrificial love and perhaps there are others you can think of.
Where do we see the sacrificial love today, in a world that is changing and subtlely causing compromise, lukewarmness and influencing manmade values and policies, without God.
The word of God that was written thousands of years ago, is coming true today.  We could write much more but here is some :
The love is growing cold. Matthew 24:12NKJV
Lovers of pleasure over lovers of God. 2 Timothy 3:4NKJV
Having a form of  godliness but denying the power. 2 Timothy 3:5NKJV
Without the Spirit. Jude 1:19NJKV
Causing divisions- Jude 1:19NKJV
I do believe that is going to happen to God's people, because of the increase in ungodliness and that they have complied too much to the influences to their flesh and not lived in compliance to God's Spirit.
There are many reasons but also because of the subtleties.  This is partly because:
In the past good was seen as good
Evil was seen as evil.
Nowadays good is becoming despised, and getting to be seen as evil.
Nowadays evil is growing to get appreciated and getting to be seen as good.
A part of this is because good and evil have been redefined, because of the reliance of humanity and not the law of God.
The redefinitions are causing a confusion. For example: humanitys love is counterfeit and not real love.  Therefore when someone is genuinely talking and supporting  God's love, they can be mistaken and perceived as talking and supporting the counterfeit. Also vice versa. God's people can be agreeing on certain specific things but talking about a different facet, or angle and so it looks like they are disagreeing , when they are talking through cross purposes. Thats because of all the growing subtleties, deceptions and counterfeits causing contention in the Body of Christ. Causing tangles like a hair knot.
Therefore its important for God's people to live by God's Spirit by complying and obeying Him. To be united in Christ, as the Salt and Light of the world.
