Hi
I thought we mite continue with this thread that Cariad started as I'm sure many may find it up lifting and you never know we mite tempt her back she has a wonderful way of explaining the scriptures.

so from where we left of.

 Rom 1:5  By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Rom 1:6  Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
Rom 1:7  To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 1:8  First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

I feel that these verses not only concern the church in Rome at that time but they are also directed towards us the holy spirit speaking through Paul to all generations of believers.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Before we leave the above verses a I have a question in the first verse Paul states we have received apostleship, then those in Rome are called to be saints.
Is there a difference between an apostle a saint and a disciple.

Hi
To all bible buddies wherever you may be it would be nice to hear from you if my post's are uninteresting please start your own thread on any scripture you like.

Moving on to the next section.

Rom 1:8  First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
Rom 1:9  For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
Rom 1:10  Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
Rom 1:11  For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
Rom 1:12  That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

I think this reminds us to pray most earnestly for all believers everywhere throughout the world  that God would strengthen them through the holy Spirit that the word of God may spread to every part of the globe and bear fruit.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on to the next section.

Rom 1:13  Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
Rom 1:14  I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
Rom 1:15  So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Rom 1:16  For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

It seams here that Paul is under an obligation to preach to everybody but in order Jew's first then the gentiles should we take a leaf out of his book and preach the word when opportunity arises.

Hi
Time to move on please feel free to join me in the walk through this wonderful epistle of St Paul's.

 Rom 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Rom 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

It's through faith we have life we shall live by faith not by works but for unbelievers there is only Gods wrath I have wondered what that wrath mite be is it God actively interfering in the affairs of man.
Or is it he dose nothing jest allowing mankind to make his own freewill choices which leads to the hell on earth that mankind has created and is creating.

I feel Rom 1:20 is rather special verse here Paul is telling us that there is a God and he created everything there is and this proves there is a God.
I feel its important when we speak to unbelievers that we mention this fact driving home the truth that God created everything if we can convince them of this then the rest falls into place.

Love and Peace

Hi
Carrying on where we left of

Rom 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

I think here Paul is directing this at Israel because they were the ones who had received the revelations about God but had not obeyed.

Rom 1:22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

they became fools instead of glorifying God they went over to idolatry. are we in danger of doing the same do we have idols in our life what is a idol but something we put before God.

Love and Peace
