God will renew our way of thinking. Ephesians 4:23 Just as He did with the disciples. Jesus warned them about the yeast and they thought He was referring to bread physically and not spiritually and symbolically. Mark 8:14-30
In the same way, I can remember when I listened or read things out of context in the bible and in Sermons. Also didn't understand that contradictions are not always contradictions, but different facets to life. That's  where somethings are applicable in some specific situations  and at other times not.
Take jealousy. Love does not envy and that applies to many situations. 1 Corinthians 13:4

Yet in some situations jealousy is because of love. God is a jealous God, and that can be understood. Exodus 34:14

We are advised not to let anger cause us to sin. Ephesians 4:26-27 That is applicable to us. Yet in other situations righteous anger from God, is because of His love. Mark 3:5

Renewed thinking is learning the balance from Gods Spirit and Word. That's instead of going from one extreme to another. Just supposing someone was told they were always late in meeting friends, then went to the other extreme of always being extremely early. The balanced way, would be to not take extremes.

Its about seeking the right context and seeing where it's applicable and not always perceiving a contradiction but a different facet, and / or a different situation.

On forums peoples opinions are out in the open, on display.
Sometimes I have to smile   :) because the disagreements are not always as big as they appear to me. Not always but sometimes.
Sometimes people are saying the same thing but are expressing it in a different way and so each other thinks they are saying something different.   ;)  When they can be saying the same thing. knit:
Sometimes they are just seeing a different angle, or a different context.
I'm not talking new age but talking about the Unity in Christ, wanting to see that.
Its not worth falling out over. That's what the devil wants.

Not forgiving gives access to satan, and robs a person of their joy.

Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Yet to be aware of satans schemes that come in many ways and guises.
In forgiving and in considering others seek nobleness by seeking intentions for others sake, which will release self seeking intentions. In the balance of being aware of the many schemes of the devil and how he works, also seek the positives, as long as its true.  In whatever it is and in the people you have forgiven.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy meditate on these things. Philippians 4:8

The balance is to be as wise and shrewd as a serpent and as gentle and harmless as a dove.

Not forgiving gives access to satan...
I walked in UNforgiveness somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 to 4 years and it completely destroyed my health during that time.  Almost every health ailment the person that I did not forgive suffered from came on me until I repented.

Pride is a killer and the Holy Bible (AKJ) is correct, "pride goes before destruction."

PW, is this a typo?
Did you mean to say, "I walked in unforgiveness............"
Otherwise it makes little sense.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

To quote someone else.

Quote
Unforgiveness is like drinking poison, and waiting for the other person to die!
