The Scottish Government’s controversial law against sectarianism and religious hatred could be abolished, after every opposition party backed its repeal. The Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012 (OBFA) was roundly criticised when it was being drafted, for endangering religious liberty and free speech. Brought in after a spate of violence during [...]

UK scientists seek licence for GM embryos despite fears

UK researchers have applied for a licence to genetically modify embryos, despite growing fears about the practice both here and abroad. Scientists at The Francis Crick Institute want to use a controversial technique called Crispr-Cas9 which can edit genes. Earlier this year, the US medical research agency said it would not fund the genetic modification.

Hello there,

This is man's day. Man rules.  Sin has entered and death by sin.  So man has used the only means available to him to prolong life, and to defeat the consequence of sins entry - medical science can now preserve life, cure disease, correct deformity, and both grow and transplant limbs and the organs of the body.  Mental illness is controlled by correct diagnosis and medical treatment.

In the country in which I live, it's citizens have to opt out of organ donation, otherwise at death, the organs of the body are automatically used as required.

Yet with knowledge and advancement comes greater and greater personal responsibility for what we allow, the decisions we are called upon to make are a matter of life and death sometimes.  Medical science prolongs life, and makes life possible to those born with chronic conditions, but when that life is no longer bearable because of pain, or other life restricting conditions, the means to end that life, which is artificially maintained, is denied them.

I find these matters difficult to resolve.

The believer has the hope of resurrection life in Christ Jesus, our hope is not for this life only.  We look ahead to a life, lived with Christ, where there is no sin, no death, no sickness, threat or danger to life, where righteousness rules.  Though this life is precious, preserving it for it's own sake is not the ultimate goal.  Living it to the glory of God, is.

These are just my thoughts.  Inadequately expressed. I hope they give you food for thought, and I would like to hear what you have to say.

In Christ Jesus
Chris
