'And of the angels He saith,
"Who maketh His angels spirits,
and His ministers a flame of fire."

(Heb. 1:7)

Hello Dave, (@davetaff),

* The writer of Hebrews says this, within the context of contrasting the person of the Son of God with Angels, thereby showing the superiority of the Son in every way to angels.

Praise His Name!

* That it is angels to which he is referring here is confirmed in Heb. 1:13,14:-

'But to which of the angels said He at any time,
"Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?"
Are they not all ministering spirits,
sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?'

(Heb 1:13,14)

* The lake of fire and it's purpose is something which you refer to a lot, Dave, so it is obviously something which you have issues with.  I would like to help.

In Christ Jesus
Cariad

Hi Cariad
Thank you for your reply and your offer of help very kind thanks but I don't have any problems or Issues with the lake of fire but I believe a lot of Christians and new seekers do and would just like to give them a different view which I believe is the right one.
The view many people have is God sitting on the edge of a big Lake of literal fire and throwing sinner into it I find this repugnant to say the least what ever happened to the God of Love who said Love thy neighbour and Love thy enemies dose God not abide by his own laws.

as I have said before all those who belong to Christ will become the lake of fire not forgetting.

Mat 3:11  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Baptised with fire Then quoting the verse above

And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Hebrews 1:7 KJV

that seams pretty plain and straightforward to me and not forgetting that in that day we will not be meek and humble but filled with the power of the holy spirit we will be in charge under the government of our King.
So how will those who are outside the kingdom react when they see all these things come to pass when they are restricted from doing the evil they want to do but can't will it not be like a burning fire amongst them.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on I hope I'm not boring you But I do believe this lake of fire is an important question  and I don't believe it's a literal fire but spiritual I would like us to consider this verse from the lips of our Lord.

Luk 12:49  I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

If the fire is already kindled why can't we see it Its because it's hidden in the hearts of all believers when we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire.
That's another reason I believe we will become the lake of fire mentioned in revelation's.

Love and Peace
Dave

I've been looking at the book of James recently and came across this;

James 3:6 'The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one?s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.'

Interesting how the tongue is referred to as a fire and hell is mentioned too.

Hi seeker
Thank you for that quote very interesting I had missed that one so it seams what we say can be fire and this we see all to often in the world how evil can spread by word of mouth.
But dose the opposite apply if the lake of fire are ell the saved speaking the word of God so the tounge can be a tool for good and evil.

that is interesting .

we seem to have water and fire

look at http://www.1faith.co.uk/bible-buddies/genesis-and-the-ot/ark-fire-and-water-msg61562/#msg61562

also : http://www.1faith.co.uk/christianstogether-co-uk/are-we-like-arrows-heading-for-the-target/msg61583/?topicseen#msg61583

Go to : James 3:4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.

the tongue = fire / water @davetaff and @Seeker and #christmasguests

Hi
I came across this this morning and thought it very interesting

Isa 6:5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Isa 6:6  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isa 6:7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Here we see a live coal taken from the alter being used to cleans a sinner so is the lake of fire the same kind of fire that's around the alter if so is the lake of fire for the cleansing of sinners I do hope so.

Love and Peace
Dave
