Hi Gospelite
Thanks for you post many good points an interesting read and you are right you cannot ignore the written word of god and to believe the written word is a good thing but I do believe there are different levels of meaning or depths if you like.

you said
Quote
How can hell give up it's dead, if no one who is dead is there?
y

this goes back to my first question what dose the word hell mean and it only means the grave nothing else when we die we don't go anywhere neither heaven nor a place of torment jest to the grave to sleep at the resurrection hell the grave will give up it's dead.
If we had bean already sorted into heaven or hell what would be the point of the resurrection and judgement the judgement would have already happened at death.

you also said.

Quote
You cannot ignore the written Word of God, nor twist and turn it to make it something you want it to be

this is true but this is what men have done with   the word hell they have made it into something it was never meant to be

and you said.

Quote
hell is a real place of eternal punishment.

I have to disagree with this statement hell is only the grave nothing more on the other hand there will be a lake of fire and there will be torment but I believe there will be a good purpose behind it but that's only my opinion.

Love and Peace
Dave

I cannot understand where you think the grave is hell?  Jesus Himself warned us about hell.   These words are written in red.  "And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell into the fire that never shall be quenched.  Where their worn dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." Mark 9:43-44.  The fire is not quenched.  How hard is that to understand?  The Word of God says exactly what it means.  Some will only believe what they want to, but I am one hundred percent sure that hell is a real place.  Not because I want it that way, not because someone told me that, but because it's very, very clear to me when I read the Bible.  I believe the Bible to be the perfect Word of God, given to us for instruction.  It does not matter what I or anyone else believes, what matters is what the Bible says!  I read it just like it's God talking to me, cause that's exactly what it is.  And He made it clear that there is a Heaven to gain, and a hell to avoid, and the only way to do that is to accept His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.  Give Him your whole heart, and He will be found with you!  Give up the worldly things of this life, and live for Him!  And we can avoid that awful place.

Hi Gospelite
Thanks for your post Made me think and look at the text you quoted I think there is a little more to it than meats the eye it comes in this section of scripture.

Mar 9:41  For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
Mar 9:42  And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
Mar 9:43  And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mar 9:44  Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mar 9:45  And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mar 9:46  Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mar 9:47  And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Mar 9:48  Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Our lord was saying what those who abused those who belonged to him deserved it seams the word hell here is a translation of the word gehenna.

G1067

γέεννα
geenna
gheh'-en-nah
Of Hebrew origin ([H1516] and [H2011]); valley of (the son of) Hinnom; Gehenna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: - hell.
Total KJV occurrences: 12

which I understand to be a real place outside Jerusalem where they burned all there rubbish All our Lord is saying is anyone who offends one of his little one deserves to be thrown into the valley of Gehenna the fires there were always burning and it was full of worms and maggots.

Love and Peace

Well, dave looks like you and I are just gonna have to agree to disagree.  :D   I don't see a place anywhere in the book of Mark that says Jesus is referring to that place you were speaking of when He made the statement about hell.  But...I never, ever argue about God's Word.  I believe hell is not only real, but eternal.  I believe that if we can step over the broken body of His precious Son, God will allow us to go there.  I know He has made a way of escape for us, and I also know that if we don't take that Way, which is His Son, we deserve hell.  God did not send His only Son to die for us so that we could just continue in our own way, and still walk on streets of gold.  I believe all of these things, because my Bible tells me these things.  And I also believe with all my heart that we are out of time to warn others.

Take care my friend, I will now leave this discussion.  God bless you and yours!

Hi Gospelite
Thanks for your reply no harm in disagreeing there are as many opinions as there are people that read the scripture maybe that's the beauty of them something for everyone theirs  always something more to learn.
the most important thing is all scripture leads us to Christ and hopefully something you or I may write may help a brother or sister in there endeavours to find Christ.

Love and Peace

Hi
Came across these verses while looking for something else thought they may be relevant

1Co 3:13  Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14  If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15  If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

It seams the fire here is not necessarily a bad thing all  work will be tried by fire and we can be saved by that fire when
As one refines precious metal to remove the dross in the same way Gods fire will refine us.

Pro 25:4  Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.
Isa 1:25  And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

Love and Peace
Dave
