If one startes with a belief in God and trusts that the bible is the word of God , then there is no contention between science, evolution and the bible.

It is only when one tries to force the bible to say what it does not that there are problems.

For example, tjhere is not an expert on the hebrew language who does not believe that the author of genesis intended to convey that the world was created in 6 days of 24 hours.

Hi John You will need to explain this statement science says the world is millions of years old your interpretation says the world is about 6000 years old I would say that's a big contention

It is only when one tries to force the bible to say what it does not that there are problems.

everything I have said concerning creation has been backed up by scripture

For example, tjhere is not an expert on the hebrew language who does not believe that the author of genesis intended to convey that the world was created in 6 days of 24 hours.

there is nowhere in Genesis that says the days were 24 hours long many of the Hebrew experts were Jews who would not use the NT besides that it contradicts what St Peter has to say about Gods days

2Pe_3:8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Consider Christs millennium reign it will last 1000 years 1 day on Gods time scale 1000 years on ours like I said before we don't know how long the creation took before the flood we are only told about the new creation which started with Noah after the flood and this is about creating mankind in Gods image.
what dose the image look like we Have the Father the Son and Spirit and all the heavenly host and this is what will be created here on earth this will be mankind in Gods image.

Love and Peace

Paul is explaining how God sees time, not as we do.
If you take those verses and stick them anywhere else in the bible they make nonsence of the bible.
Jesus was three days in the tomb, or is Jesus still in the tomb as we await the ending of three thousanda years.

How long did Jesus fast in the wilderness 40 days or is he still fasting untill 40 thousand years have gone by.
How many days did Joshua march an army round the city of Jericho for 7 days or seven thousand years.

Have I proved a basic biblical interpretation point?

Exactly.
And the six days of creation, each lasting 1000 years, were interspersed with nights lasting 1000 years during which everything died.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Hi Boys
Thank you for your posts I know you did not mean for me to take them seriously you were jest trying to wind me up thank you I enjoy a good laugh.
But just in case there are any seekers out there that may be confused there are man days which are 24 hours long which are those days mentioned by John and there are God's days mentioned by St Peter (not St Paul John )  these are 1000 years long and are the days of this creation  we also need to remember that St Peter said we should not forget so I believe this information is important.
There may be one interesting thing about these two time scales on the 24 hour scale Christ rose on the third day no the 1000 year scale we are about to or have next entered the third day so will the Lord soon rise with healing in his wings.

Love and Peace
Dave

No Dave
If you are ripping the aday=1kyears out of context and forcing it into places it does not fit.
Then my post was deadly searious.

We do Not play games with scripture like King Jehu who cut off and threw into the fire the scroll of God.

If we donot understand a passage then we seek advice from wiser minds, from other Christians.

Hi John
thank you  for your reply the same old answer out of context but you never say what the context is so lets look an a bit more scripture.

2Pe 3:4  And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Here we have St Peter trying to comfort those who were impatient for the coming of the lord

2Pe 3:5  For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Here Peter reminds them of the first creation

2Pe 3:6  Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Here Peter reminds them that world perished was destroyed

2Pe 3:7  But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

here Peter tells them about the earth which is now which is the world we are living in and was created after the flood

2Pe 3:8  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Here we come to the verse I quoted before and as far as I can see it is perfectly in context with creation and supports what I say very well

I don't play games with scripture but believe what it says above what men say and follow the advice of scripture

Act 17:11  These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Don't believe everything Men say but check it against the scriptures

Love and Peace
Dave

No where does it say that the earth was recreated, only that the world was destroyed by water.
