UN to NI: ‘Decriminalise abortion in all circumstances’

A United Nations committee has called for abortion to be decriminalised “in all circumstances” in Northern Ireland. The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child has urged the NI Executive to “review its legislation” to ensure girls have access to ‘safe abortion’. It made the recommendation as part of a wider report, which came [...]

Christian groups issue joint statement on EU referendum

In response to requests from Christians, several organisations have issued a joint statement calling for Christians to pray for the forthcoming EU referendum. The statement is backed by The Christian Institute, CARE, Christian Concern, the Christian Medical Fellowship, the Jubilee Centre, the Kirby Laing Institute for Christian Ethics and the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship. The referendum [...]

C of E Bishop: Rethink traditional view of marriage

Genesis’ teaching on marriage needs to be ‘reconsidered’, a Church of England Bishop has stated, but The Christian Institute says the Bible’s message is clear. The Rt Revd Paul Bayes, the Bishop of Liverpool, is one of a number of Anglicans who have contributed to a book on “Revisiting scripture and sexuality”. In it, he [...]

BMA under pressure to ‘go neutral’ on assisted suicide

The British Medical Association (BMA) is to discuss assisted suicide at its annual meeting this week, amid pressure to change its current stance. Currently the BMA says it “opposes all forms of assisted dying” and supports the current legal position which “allows compassionate and ethical care for the dying”. However the doctors’ union will discuss [...]

Lets put this into simple english. The bma want doctors to promote assisted suicide and not to be vocally and actively against it. By talking about being 'neutral' they are not expressing a view and so removing the conciderable opinion of doctors from the debate.
This is a cynical move to get euthanasia in through the back door.
Pray for doctors on the bma council that they will retain the bases of Christian morality and oppose this.

Don’t call girls ‘girls’, teachers advised

Teachers in the Girls’ Schools Association are being advised to avoid use of the word “girls”, to cater for transsexual pupils. In assemblies, staff are being encouraged to say “pupils” or “students” instead of “girls” because of children who are “posing questions around their gender identity”. The single-sex schools have also been advised to create [...]

Doctors vote to maintain assisted suicide opposition

Doctors have decisively voted to maintain their opposition to assisted suicide at the British Medical Association’s (BMA) annual meeting. Delegates voted by 198 to 115 against a motion which called for the BMA to take a ‘neutral’ stance on the issue. The move means the doctors’ union retains its stance of opposing assisted suicide and [...]

Named Person slammed as ‘intrusive nonsense’

A senior council leader has spoken out against the Named Person scheme, saying it is parents who are best at looking after their children. Alisdair Rhind, Deputy Leader of Highland Council, said the Government should back off its controversial plans – due to come into force in August. Under the proposals, every child in Scotland [...]
