Calls to celebrate abortion challenged on social media

Thousands of messages supporting adoption rather than abortion have been posted on social media this week in response to calls to celebrate abortion. Activists in the USA used the hashtag #ShoutYourAbortion on Twitter in response to political moves to tackle abortion giant Planned Parenthood. The effort to remove funding from the US’ largest abortion provider [...]

A US man who lost the use of his legs following a spinal cord injury has walked a short distance after doctors rerouted his brain signals in a medical breakthrough. Adam Fritz, 26, was left using a wheelchair following a motorbike accident five years ago. But doctors at the University of California have managed to [...]

A newspaper columnist whose daughter has Down Syndrome says the world would not be a better place without people like her, as the Government considers a new screening test. Dominic Lawson says far from the “gloomy prognoses” given by doctors at her birth, his daughter, Domenica, often says she loves her life. The concerns centre [...]

Day 2: NI Attorney General weighs in on Ashers appeal

On the second day of legal proceedings the Attorney General for Northern Ireland, John Larkin QC, gave reasons for his dramatic intervention in the Ashers case. This week’s appeal was originally scheduled for February, but was delayed when Mr Larkin questioned the constitutional validity of the regulations on which the case against Ashers is based. [...]
