Walking Alongside With God - Release God from within
« on: March 23, 2016, 11:35:39 PM »
How do we learn to follow God the Father?  It seems talking to God and listening seem not too bad to do, however the following bit is on another level.  This has me thinking of the Listen, Hear and Obey way of things, and this study is inspired from one done about 7/8 years ago.

So talking to Father God ... you could put together your own love letter to the Father, as an exercise showing you how to apply that, as an example.

Listening to Father God ... you could look at taking a time each day, for Father God, to be still and 'listen' as an example of how you apply listening.

This study will look at what we do after ... after we have talked, then listened.  It's not something as a 'rule' to do, just stepping stones, ideas or 'practicalities of Christianity', to help with the things spoken. Many times people will speak ever so eloquently, however it is not often or many people, who would then help you on how to do what they speak.  So these are simply ideas, but not the everything of how to do things.
Feel free to comment other stepping stones.

How do we learn to follow God the Father ( His will )?

The Gifts are there for you to use. The Gifts are used to build up the Body, administering Grace and Love, bringing God into people's lives, with whatever Gifts you have ...

7The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

10Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God?s grace in its various forms. 11If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.

If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever

Whether they are used or not, depends if you are willing to importantly, talk to AND listen to God.  What kind of relationship you have, will define what God's view and will is, in any given situation. This is because you have heard it, seen it, felt it, sensed it, recognised God's prompting through your spirit, i.e. Emmaus Walk experience, responded and actioned what you heard.

How do we learn to follow God the Father ( His will ) ?

By having courage, boldness,  talking, listening, and putting into action what we hear.

People are constantly writing, the inspired working of God in their lives. With God's Gifts and Fruits given to people, and them moving in them, the evidence of God's Word is even more.  The Light shines brighter, the Fruit becomes more evident, with that ... so does God.

So God is constantly writing His Word and works, it is not limited to the Bible alone.  The Bible really is writings of people of God at the time and how God was evident in their lives, showing their relationship with Him and God's Word to His people and mankind. His desire for reconciliation ... "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"

What comes to mind is, God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow ... His Word stands the same yesterday, as it does today, as it will tomorrow, alongside its Author.  God has never stopped speaking and seeking relationship with His children since the dawn of time.  Even when time is no more, God will still have a relationship with you.  Relationship was born with time, but on God's heart before time, so in essence has always been eternal. Thus God's desire for you as an individual person, existed before time. Time was created for man, God is not restricted to time. God exists throughout all time, before time and beyond time ... all in a blink of an eye, at the same time.

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

also ...

16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Also a song that comes to mind in this teaching is this ...

1. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
 fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
 until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
 to do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
 till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly part of me
 glows with thy fire divine.

4. Breathe on me, Breath of God,
 so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
 of thine eternity.

So talk to your Father in heaven, listen to and for His answer, then respond, action and follow Him in that.  Also, what would Jesus do? He is your great example of how to live your life, serving ... He came to serve, not to be served.

Are we willing vessels for God, for others?  Or does Father's prompting often come at an 'inconvenient' time?  Do we put off until tomorrow what should be done today?

Exodus 13

21 By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

Psalm 42

8"By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me - a prayer to the God of my life."

See God does not go anywhere, doesn't leave His place from in front of you ?

He will not leave you nor forsake you ...

So what stops us from talking and listening and following in His footsteps?  What stops us walking with God, or through our eyes seem that way? because remember God will never leave you nor forsake you.  It is ourselves who take our eyes off God. God is before you, besides you, behind you, underneath you, above you, throughout it all.  All of creation testifies of God because God has simply been through it all, for its' testimony to have been borne.

See I also wonder sometimes about these walls we build.

The Holy Spirit teaches you things and lays it on your heart, the Bible tells you this.

We may have built walls or barriers, thinking it is keeping God out, protecting us from having to 'deal' with whatever, when in fact it is doing the opposite ... its keeping God in. Only when the wall is removed, do you see what is already within you.

You can build walls that keep God out ... how many times have you heard that phrase? I have even spoke it myself.  But you know, on pondering this I do not think it is quite a true reflection.  I think it is more the former ... you build walls that traps God inside your heart.  You are a temple of the Holy Spirit, your heart is the hub of God in you.  So these walls you build, keep you away from your secret place with God, so you have inadvertently trapped yourself out with the enemy. On top of this, God isn't able to reach out or shine out to others through you the same, if at all, simply because of these walls. You can't see God in you, start thinking He has abandoned you, when in fact like Jesus on the waves with Peter, He never went anywhere, it was only Peter who couldn't see. Blessed are those that believe and yet do not see. The downward spiral begins and the door opens for apathy and all sorts to waltz right on in ... let the lies of satan begin in deceiving you, trying to keep you from turning to God.

When you recognise that a wall needs taking down, our Father's tenderness heals us, right to the root, to the foundation and cornerstone of that, replacing it with full healing.  His Love is a complete salve to your life.

Remember your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit resides in you.  How evident the Holy Spirit is in our lives, again 'you shall know them by their Fruits'  comes to mind.

Imagine what all the Temples on the earth look like to God looking down on the globe?  Are we the network  of God's Light and Love around the globe, so God's Love and Light can connect all around the globe like neurons, so God's Love will conquer all?  Are we God's stars on earth for all to see and connect to each other with? are we bringing God's Love to all of His children, whom He Loves?

So out of sight out of mind ... whose sight and mind?  because it isn't God's, there is no hiding place from God.

Your mind will be renewed, He will heal you, the Truth sets you free, you are free indeed!

Romans 12

2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I have been through counselling of various sorts in my life, and  I was on high doses of antidepressants.  Now I am mentioning this as an example to you, of doing this very thing. I am not suggesting anyone stops taking their medication if they take it.  Never stop taking medication without consulting with your medical practitioner.  I am sharing this as a testimony to God working in my life, and me listening, hearing and obeying in what God led me to do.  To show you how what I say, relates to real life.

With my counsellor I never let him too close, and he knew it. I was too stubborn and didn't really let him past first base, let alone near the walls.  God has used my stubbornness, and stubbornness has also been a thorn in the side for me too.

Only a few months down the line, after my counselling had finished, did I really start looking to God as my counsellor and not my enemy.  This was the beginning of my 'mind being renewed' in this area.  Then next thing I know, I am off medications and being sustained by God, go figure! and been off them not far off 10 years now. If only I had done that in the first place!

Do we do this with God? too stubborn to let go and let God heal, guide, restore, renew and refresh, to still the mind to hear His voice, to have that loving relationship with our Father, to have His parental guidance?  We are His sons and daughters, we are worthy of His Love ... if you do not feel worthy or not 'up to the mark' for God, then this is a lie from satan to keep you from God.  God loves you, and like the story of the Prodigal Son, He is waiting with arms open for you to come running home to Him...

So that was an example of me talking to my Father in heaven, and listening to His advice, then following Him in His will for me. Putting into action what He spoke, and also of the renewal of the mind, the turning of the stubbornness ... into perseverance.

What keeps us from letting go?

It is well, let God be God ... all is well with my soul, no bother the storms around, it is well.

Looked at the link within the above post and kind of got side-tracked by another video - but it's a good song (or I thought so at least, see link below). :D

Part of the lyrics I heard was about putting God in boxes (or something like that), something I think many are prone to do at times (including myself). Limiting God basically - can we ever really limit God? Hmmmmmm one min' Bible verse springs to mind;

Isaiah 46:10 'Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:'
