Here are a few Bible facts about the Sabbath (they're Bible facts because I found them in the Bible). Just for fun, see if you can find where they are too!  loopy:

1. The seventh day Sabbath is a Levitical feast.

2. The seventh day Sabbath was a sign between God and Israel.

3. The seventh day Sabbath is one of the ten commandments.

4. The ten commandments are the "tables of the covenant". of which commandments the seventh day Sabbath is the fourth.

5. The ten commandments, of which commandments the seventh day Sabbath is the fourth, were given by God to the generation of Israelites who left Egypt and not the their previous generations.

6. The ten commandments, of which commandments the seventh day Sabbath is the fourth, are part of the Mosaic law.

7. The ten commandments are part of "the Law" (i.e. the whole law) of the old covenant from which we are redeemed.

Happy studying!  :051bye:

Hebrews 4: 1-11
4 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.  2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, "They shall not enter My rest,"' although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works";  5 and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest." 6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,  7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts."  8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.  9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.  10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.  11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Any thoughts on this?              Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Hello @Abel,

Hebrews 4:3, and Hebrews 4:10, to me is the key to this, which says that those who have believed have entered into God's rest.

Hi Able
Welcome to the forum and thank you for your question.

I believe the Sabbath Christ is referring to is his millennium reign when God the father hands everything over to Christ to finish the work of creation.

Hi Dave, thanks for the welcome. What made you come to think about the connection between Christ's millennium reign and His statement saying "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath". I am always interested in how people come to their understanding of the scripture.

Hi Able
Not to sure if I should continue what I believe usually don't go down to well with the others on the forum but I will answer you question.

My belief is when God destroyed the first creation with flood he started a new creation with Noah it would take 7 days to complete 1000 years for one day a total of 7000 years.

the last 1000 years is Christs millennial reign this is when God the father hands everything over to Christ and God the father takes his Sabbath rest hence Jesus Christ is lord of the Sabbath.

At the end of Christs millennial reign Christ hands everything back to the father and God is all in all.

I hope this answers your question this is what I believe but most of the members on this site don't agree with me so you will have to make your own mind up.

Love and Peace

Hi Dave, we are all in search of the truth and the funny thing is, I believe that most Christians are far from that truth because they are wrapped up in their customs, traditions, politics etc. My search for more truth continues and I pray everyday for God to guide me toward the truth of His works and teachings. Keep searching brother but test all things as we are told and try not to take anything on board that is not of GOD or proven in scripture, even then you have to be careful many manipulate scripture for gain. Don't fear when you find things that will bring you closer to GOD, His light and Christ Jesus His Son, that may change something you have previously thought. There is one truth that you cannot deny and it's something I've read which I keep on the inside of the Bible I have and it's this: THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU FROM SIN, OR SIN WILL KEEP YOU FROM THIS BOOK. Trust in the One true living GOD(YHWH) and His Son The Christ(Yeshua), not in man. Peace be with you and may the GOD of Abraham, Issac and Jacob(Israel) guide you toward and along the straight narrow path.

No Dave, that's yet more of your baloney.

There was absolutely no NEW creation after the flood!
That's a biblical fact, and to say otherwise is dishonesty.
Show me anywhere in scripture where it says there was any new creation after the flood.

All that happened was that after the flood, the remaining portions of the old creation started the natural process of reproduction. That applied to plants animals and humans.

Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)
