Our heart may well come to God in pieces...
God's heart and love however doesn't, and comes to us complete.
We must trust in the mystery of God at times, commit our soul to the voyage of the unknown and follow His signposts and the stars as our maps.
This is also an aspect of faith.

Hi
Something that came to mind this morning

Job 19:25  For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Job 19:26  And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

With Job I also Know there is no doubt.

Love and Peace
and a very merry Christmas one and all
Dave

Please note, Jesus DID NOT say we shall know the truth, PLUS. Did He??. Let me show you what Jesus said,
"If you continue in My WORD, you are My disciples, and you shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Jn 8: 31--32.
So where is the, " simply knowing stuff is not enough", that you wrongly say??.

Knowing will produce believing, Rom 10: 17, and believing is KNOWING... As for the truth, you don't want it, as all you want to do, is argue.

Merely knowing the truth clearly does not always produce a faithful response.
James2v19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that?and tremble.

As I said before, Rahab knew exactly the same information that the rest of Jericho held. Yet she was the only person who went beyond mere knowing that stuff, just as James testifies.
James2v25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Here's the scripture you quoted above.-
Quote
"If you continue in My WORD, you are My disciples, and you shall KNOW the truth, and the truth shall set you free. Jn 8: 31--32.
Here is the full scripture revealing its context (in red).
Quote
John8v31Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed. 32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
You state above that "Knowing will produce believing," but Jesus makes it clear that believing produces knowing! And from that level of knowing, then the truth brings freedom.

Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

O I don't believe it is arguing @Jesus4me - its simply discussing the truths of the bible together  and the deeper truths of God.

I think we all have something to place at the table.

If you read Jn 8: 31--32, You will see that Jesus DIDN'T say anything about believing first. He wouldn't contradict Himself, He said faith comes by hearing, [Knowing, getting the revelation]. He DIDN'T say, Knowing comes by believing.

No, that's just the context of the complete verse. Believing comes first. Scriptural truth is a waste of breath for those who don't believe.- "Pearls before swine."
John8v31Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him,
Thus the starting position was belief.

If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;
Not just knowing stuff, but continuing in it.

32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
And that's what the result is, knowing truth at a heart level and becoming free by continuing in it.
