Hi John
Thanks for your post I'm sure there many who will agree with you I know I have some strange ideas but that's how the Bible speaks to me.
I think the subject of what happens after death were we go and what will happen is of interest to many seeking answer so I thought it would be better to start a new thread to air our views and hopefully help some seekers.
Love and Peace
Dave

HI
moving on to the next section which seams a bit easier to interpret.

Rev 10:1  And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
Rev 10:2  And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
Rev 10:3  And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
Rev 10:4  And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

I would say this mighty angel is the Lord the whole image tells a story the cloud and pillars of fire that followed Israel in the wilderness the rainbow the seal of the covenant with Noah.
I wonder what the thunders had to say I suppose we will will have to wait until our Lord comes for that.

Love and Peace

Hello @davetaff,

Being a new member, this is the only entry in this Bible study on Revelation that I have read. Not a study for the fainthearted. :)

Please consider, that in verse one, the words,'another mighty angel', links this being with others of His kind (see 5:2 & 8:3). Elsewhere in this book, angels mean 'angels', there is nothing to indicate that this being is deity.

Respectfully,
In Christ Jesus

I would suggest this is the uncreated Angel and the same Angel we see throughout the old testaments -and His name is Jesus.

This was the Angel with the little book/scroll  in His hand...[right hand]

I would suggest the book was little because it was the vision for  John @ this time, hence John had to eat it - in order to proclaim it.

It was not the bible [which is like honey to the lips]  but rather the short revelation which now becomes a book.

It was sealed because it was yet to be and could not be fully understood until the passing of days [full revelation]

This seal unveiled  what John saw - but was only limited revelation and was sealed until the right time.

We are yet to see this "little book" and its "words" come into being,

Yet some would suggest it has already happened or is yet to happen [being that some thing are a shadow of things to come]

Now we see a book called the bible - but one day we will see the little book come into being.

I said what I said because this angle reminds me of many aspects of our Lord and what he has done.
all through scripture we have this expression "Angel of the Lord" I have thought like TJ this was Jesus speaking to us then I remembered the first verse of revelations which says.

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

So it would seam that Jesus got the revelation from the Father then Jesus gave it to his Angel to give to John to give to us.
What the angel said and showed John was only what Jesus had given him to say so in essence it was Jesus speaking and revealing through his angel.
In like manner Jesus gets everything from God the Father he is the word of God.
So Gods messenger (angel) is Christ and Christ also has a messenger Christ is the exact image of the father.

(Rev 10:1-4)

Hello @davetaff,

Thank you for responding.  I agree with your words concerning the angel of Rev.1:1.

The repeated use of , 'ands', in these verses compels the mind to stop and consider each item separately, doesn?t it? ( love the way the Holy Spirit uses figures of speech to arrest our attention like this) .

- The fact that he was clothed with a cloud - indicating his majesty and dignity.

- The fact that a rainbow was upon his head - in Rev.4:3 a rainbow is over the throne, it's form speaks to us of judgement, of hope, and of deliverance for those for whom the rainbow was given - as a symbol of the covenant made with them (Gen.9:8-17). The colour of the rainbow was emerald, which being the opposite of fire speaks of mercy in the midst of judgement ( Psa.101:1). Here we are only told of it's form and not it's colour.

- The fact that his face was as it were the sun, - which brings to mind Rev.1:16.

- The fact that his feet were as pillars of fire - which draws attention to what those feet are described as doing in (Rev 10:2b)  - 'and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth' - thus informing us of his intention to take possession of both (Deut.11:24), The right to execute this judgement was made in Rev. 5, and now it is being carried out. (see John 12:31; 16:11).

That's all for now.
Thank you for the opportunity.

In Christ Jesus

Hi Cariad
Thank you so much for your post I enjoyed reading it so much food for thought One could almost start a new thread on every AND there is so much to think about reminded me of these verses of St Paul.

Eph 3:17  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Eph 3:18  May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Eph 3:19  And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Eph 3:20  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Eph 3:21  Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Love and Peace
