Hi TJ
Of course you are right there are many ways to interpret the scripture I try to do it from the point of view that God Is Love and he Loves his creationI and only want's the best for us good  and bad alike he loves us and Christ died for us sinners.
So when I look at a section of scripture I try to find the Love in it find the Love and you find God,   God is Love.

Love and Peace

Dave,
God is more than just love. He is able in his 'love' for us to put us through tests like Abraham and Isaac went through. Abraham passed that test, but think. What was going through his mind, the tempting of the devil as he traveled for days to sacrifice his only son.
Yes God loves us, but it is not a 'soft fluffy pink love' its armour plated tough realistic love.
That same love is suborndinate to Gods holiness and to his justice.

Maybe it is more of a case of not being able to fully comprehend God's Love? Even something like trying to comprehend unconditional Love is by no means easy. Is God's Love unconditional?

Also as I think John pointed out, God is just. So how long does a just God watch suffering? I hate seeing any living thing suffer - how must God think of such? Hhhmmm not wanting to get into the whole suffering debate though :D

Musing aloud though, some suffering is trails maybe, but all? hmmmmmm. God heard and does hear His people, I don't think He wants them to suffer unnecessarily (although one could then ponder what is 'necessary suffering'?)

Hi John
I don't know what soft fluffy pink love is it has very little to do with the God I worship he is a loving father who disciplines his children for there good.
I have to disagree with you about Love it is the ultimate it is above everything else through love everything else fall's natural y into place if we love as we should we fulfill all the laws of scripture and when God tests our love let's not bey found wanting.

Hi Seeker
I do think Gods love is beyond our comprehension as for trials and suffering nowhere in scripture dose it say we will have an easy ride the exact opposite in fact maybe this is the test of our love for him through all our trials and tribulations we can still love God and our fellow man.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on to the next section which seams to be harder than the last but we can give it a shot please join in I need all the help I can get.

Rev 9:1  And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
Rev 9:2  And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
Rev 9:3  And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
Rev 9:4  And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.
Rev 9:5  And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man.
Rev 9:6  And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.
Rev 9:7  And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.
Rev 9:8  And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.
Rev 9:9  And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle.
Rev 9:10  And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months.
Rev 9:11  And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

Probably best to take it a bit at a time Is the star that falls satan I say this because in Rev 9:11 it mentions a king Abaddon or Apollyon which seams to indicate satan.
Is the bottomless pit where the fallen angels where kept chained in the time of Noah.

Love and Peace

Isaiah 14:12  How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

O how the serpent was cast down to "the garden of eden" to tempt Adam and Eve to join him.

But more so, to lead  astray, to blind people from seeing the "Light".

Here the Light descended into the darkness, as Jesus Himself confesses in Luke 10:18;

Are we seeing the future through John's Vision or what happened before time began ?

Hi
So who were these locusts could they be the fallen angels locked away at the time of Noah is this satan releasing his helpers ( why was he given the key???) what can we say about them they looked like men but acted like locusts devouring everything before them they had hair like a woman reminds us of the church they had  breastplates of iron instead of the breastplate of righteousness; and

1Th 5:8  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

They had crowns of gold trying to be something they where not the opposite of the helmet of hope I think maybe this is a picture of the early RC church it seams logical that satan would do his best to steer the early church of course and to a certain extent he did the sting in there tail was false doctrines like indulgences for example.
I apologise if this offends any RCs out there it was not my intention.

Love and peace

Hi
we seam to have ground to a halt on this one I Know they are difficult passages to deal with but lets plough on and hope something useful emerges

Rev 9:12  One woe is past; and, behold, there come two woes more hereafter.
Rev 9:13  And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
Rev 9:14  Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
Rev 9:15  And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.
Rev 9:16  And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
Rev 9:17  And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
Rev 9:18  By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Rev 9:19  For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Rev 9:20  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
Rev 9:21  Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

These four angels at the river Euphrates takes my mind back to the garden of Eden and the four rivers there

 Gen 2:11  The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
Gen 2:12  And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
Gen 2:13  And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
Gen 2:14  And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.

do these rivers represent the four angels if nothing else it dose tell us that even so long ago God had a plan and that plan has bean unfolding ever since.
Has these four angels bean released yet anything in history to suggest this has happened anything in there appearance that may give a clue.
Looking forward to your replies.

what the names mean

Pishon: increase
Gihon: bursting forth
Tigris - rapid
Euphrates - fruitfulness.

Love and Peace
Dave
