You know one of the biggest things I have learnt over the least ten years is that [OTHER] people can so get in the way of God's works.

But in the end God wins  :D

The book of Revelation is the hardest book to understand.

As you may remember I began this stiudy  once - but due to lack of time [and other reasons]  had to abandon it.

I love being a bible buddy - and love folowing your posts.

Be encouraged

Hey @davetaff  :D

Some would say that this is in the past tense - using  Mark 15:33;

Or in past times when the sun, moon and stars where darkened [being a metaphor] of dark times referring to Judea]

Some would state that this is future tense and relate the sun [life] moon and stars as the same thing.

Some simply see it as a furture  thing that will happen...

However if we see this as Evil , then it takes on a whole new meaning.

As things will grow darker .

Or will they - or is it simply that things have always been dark and people are simply noticing and things are being brought to the Light by the media in this day and age ?

@davetaff I would tend to see this as future tense as the stars begin to fall amd the heavens [the second heaven is rolled up like an old scroll would be rolled up and the finality of things reach a conclusion. @BobbyDazzler

All we see here is a metaphor/picture/vision/ and John could get it wrong - the same as we interpret things wrongly.

God here lives outside of time and maybe we will never undetrstand this metaphors.....

Whether past /present or future or all of these

One thing is for sure - God is using the second heaven here / the stars ,sun and moon.

As a picture and image .  @davetaff

As things will grow darker .

Nay I disagree with mysekf here

The human heart has always been the same - and was always exposed by Christ

We cannot grow any darker ...

therfore I would assume that this vision refers to a past /presnet and future tense and God relating it to the second heaven.

Hi TJ
Not sure I understand everything your getting at But I do think that the things John is telling us are things which were due to happen in the future that's from the time of John.

Rev 1:1  The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

So the predictions we have in revelations have been played out in the last 2000 years and into the near future.

Love and peace

ok - well now we see through a glass/mirror as dark/night - but then we shall be face to face

You can see it as literal or a metaphor

As a converted Jew I might read it as saying "I once saw the scriptures as rules and regulations - but now I see and know
as I am known

Zechariah 14:6 In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. 7For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light.

hat I am getting at is there are so many ways of interpreting revelations - depending on where we are looking from.
