The mormons teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers. As there is only mention of God having one Son in the bible this teaching is false.
The bible discribes satan as an angel of light, so he is a created being and not equal to Jesus.

Hi John
Thanks for your post But I think there is plenty of scripture that supports God having more than one son for example.

Gen_6:2  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Job 1:6  Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job 38:7  When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

So are all the heavenly host sons of God even those who rebelled in Eden. Yes Christ is different he was the first of all creation He was the only one begotten in the flesh he is the only one who died for the sins of the world.

Even we who believe are sons of God the scriptures say so do they not.

Rom 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
1Jn 3:1  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

So It seams to me there is plenty of scripture to support God having many sons but there is only one begotten of the father and that#s Jesus.

Love and Peace
Dave

I've heard the idea of Satan and Jesus being brothers before, but I do not know where this idea has come from?

It is clear that Jesus is the son of God - but Satan? Is there any evidence of this?

Hi Seeker
As I see it all the angles of God are created spiritual beings and sons of God, God Is there father and among them is satan and his angels I think they were created as perfect beings but rebelled under satan.
Christ is different he was also a spiritual being the first of all creation then God the father impregnated Mary and Christ became flesh begotten of the Father hence son of God and son of man this was necessary because spiritual beings cannot die so it was necessary for the son of God to come in the flesh so he could die for the sins of the world Hope this makes some sense.

Hi Tj
An interesting observation both Jesus and satan are seen as star's both would be sons of God Christ of course the elder He was before all things I wonder if the parable of the two sons has any bearing on the matter.

Mat 21:28  But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Mat 21:29  He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
Mat 21:30  And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

Then of course we have the Parable of the prodigal son this also was about two brothers the question here is would God the father take satan back if he repented how great is Gods Love.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi @davetaff @BobbyDazzler @Seeker

Maybe the answer is in Job 38:7  while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

But I cannot imagine satan and his demons shouting for joy...

Therefore not all are brothers - as satan fell from glory and Jesus rose to glory  ?

Some might say that the "stars" were the literal stars - however it can also be said that "the stars were not created until the fourth day ? whereas God is speaking here of the founding of the earth .

We also see "son's" as angels in

Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.

"And satan came also" would seems to suggest - that he was not a son of God [or not any longer]

Now compare

Revelation 2:28  I will also give that one the morning star.

With

Revelation 22:16  "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

The one who conquers/overcomes  will receive  from the bright Morning Star....the bright Morning Star !

It is interesting in  Job 38:7 God spoke through the storm [after the storm of Job's life] to humble him

Even through Job's difficulties - God shows His authority above all

Hi TJ
Satan's other name is Lucifer which means morning star.

Isa 14:12  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

so the question is was Lucifer created as an angle of light then sin was found in in him.
