Rev 8:10  And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters
;

It could well be satan appearing as if he were lamp [who swept a third of heaven down with him /
Quote
the third part of the waters became wormwood;

This would also make sense - when we read "Luke 10:18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Also see : Isaiah 14:12: - Revelation 12:9

The problem is when we read Revelation 9:1 "And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit."  ?

 Jesus Christ alone holds the key to the bottomless pit and He took the key away from Satan

So here we might see this as God giving authority to satan [giving him the key] before it was taken maybe ?

What do you think  !

Depends what you consider to be the "bottomless pit".  :)

And that brings us back to the greek and latin/hebrew and the many variations of interpretation  :D  @  Guest

With this we would have to translate "star" to find the key - to whether it means satan or Jesus

Isaiah 14:12: has "Star" as satan

Whereas Revelation 22:16 has Jesus as the "Star"

Once we've busted that one then .....we know where they went

Could well be. But through what person, people  or body of people do you think Satan worked in order to infiltrate the early church?

Hi Bob
I don't think satan pussy foots around but goes straight for the jugular his tactics are divide and conquer even in Paul's time there were divisions which he warned about not to go outside what they had heard from him and his helpers.
Today there are more divisions that you can count he must be laughing his head of, Having said that I don't think he can divide the true church which is the body of Christ.
How often dose a unbeliever say which church shall I believe in you can't even agree among your self's.

Hi Tj
An interesting observation both Jesus and satan are seen as star's both would be sons of God Christ of course the elder He was before all things I wonder if the parable of the two sons has any bearing on the matter.

 Mat 21:28  But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Mat 21:29  He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
Mat 21:30  And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

Then of course we have the Parable of the prodigal son this also was about two brothers the question here is would God the father take satan back if he repented how great is Gods Love.

Love and Peace

I've heard the idea of Satan and Jesus being brothers before, but I do not know where this idea has come from?

It is clear that Jesus is the son of God - but Satan? Is there any evidence of this?
