I know that when I speak in tongues, I am talking direct to my Father or Abba in heaven.

I know He loves me, that NOTHING can separate me from His Love EVER, and even if the tongues make no sense to me, He understands my spirit entirely.

I do this either on my own or when with others.

I've learned several languages, but the spiritual gift of tongues is something different.

Hi

Act 2:6  Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
Act 2:7  And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
Act 2:8  And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Who was it that received the gift those who spoke in there native tongue or those that understood what they were saying I can understand  this kind of tongues very useful for spreading the gospel but speaking in a tongue no one understands don't seam to have any useful purpose God may understand it but then again i expect he understands every language.

It was the disciples  who were baptised  in the Holy Ghost and  spoke in  tongues,  so it was them who had the gift
Speaking  in tongues that  no one understandseems is very important to  the  Christians.
