This is another pet peeve of mine. Im too busy for Church, or Church shouldn't be longer than 1 hour because people are busy.

Church should be the place that's revolutionary. Church should be the place where the leaders are enthusiastic and charismatic. Church should be the place that people want to go. Not out there, but in here! Church should be the place where people feel at home. Church should be the place that we're excited to go to because we're going to be fired up, energised, recharged for the week ahead, we're going to learn something fabulous and amazing about our Christian life, we get to support and love one another, we get to fellowship!

But no. We can't stay too long because we're busy with "family".

Im reminded of a few things. Jesus came not to bring peace, but a sword. We should be different. But alas, too many Christians are almost indistinguishable from anybody else. They give an hour of their time a week at Church and.... that's it. They have the cars, the houses, the great holidays, the clothes, the make up, the drink, the food. They make little time  for others. They seem to be caught up in serving with their lips, as a functional serving, rather than serving from their hearts.

The second thing I am reminded about is Luke 10 I think, Martha and Mary... we should know our priorities. We should have this yearning to learn more, to know more.

The third thing I believe is Acts 6 where they decided to carry on preaching but get others who are full of the spirit to assist them. Look we can't do everything. I think there's an argument to be said that Christians try and serve too much and spread themselves too thinly. The body of Christ is one of unique and diverse gifts and we all need to play our part - no matter how small.

But this to me, confirms a believe of mine that not only do you delegate, but you also remove things from your life that aren't working. De-clutter.

Thoughts?

One practical way is to have a church lunch. Those interested sign up and pay in advance , to minimise the time wasters who agree to everything but never turn up.
Then after the tea/coffees have been drunk, set up tables in the church hall or in the church if thats a better fit and sort out the meal.
It's a great way to continue meeting with people and to get to know them better. When we've done it its has been a good time that finished too quickly. Mainly due to a lack of places for post dinner naps!
