Jesus said :
" I am the Light of the world, whoever follows me will have the Light of life."  John 8v12.

Without Jesus, we are in the darkness and wondering if a Light exists.
The darkness doesn't comprehend the light and there are different reactions because some humbly accept their faults and transgressions. Others have arrogance and hardness of heart. They refuse the light because their deeds are exposed.

Yet on receiving Christ, we receive His truth, and therefore receive His Light.

Jesus said:
" I am the Light. "
There is comfort and hope to us, knowing there is a Light shining in the darkness.

Jesus the Light

The Light is a comfort to us as individuals. We are comforted knowing that we have a loving Creator, who is Fathering us, and guiding us through our life. As without Him, we are sheep that have gone astray.

Our Father's Spirit is known as a comforter, John 14 v26. So when we turn to His Light, we are comforted by our loving Father. He is our counsellor.

We are comforted by knowing that in receiving Jesus, we have eternal life. For in Christ we will live, eventhough we die. As death and its sting are swallowed up in victory, in Christ, 1 Corinthians 15v54-56.

There is a message of comfort to all people on this Earth, who  turn to their Creator through Christ. For Jesus promises to come again, and give us a new Heavens and Earth. He will bring His real  justice and peace to this world. Every knee will bow down before Him.

So the Light  of Christ, is a Light of comfort to this world of darkness. For without Christ, there  is bewilderment and no hope . For manmade solutions are never going to properly and sincerely resolve all the problems.

Many scientists have said that there is a catch 22 to resolving global warming. For they look for manmade answers, and are ignoring the promises God made for the Earth's furture. ( Isaiah 65 and Revelation 21 v 1-4).

In the houses of parliament, policies are made for manmade solutions. They are a waste of time for solving individual, local and global problems because God's Word is ignored.

God see's this and rages.  As the peoples' of the Earth are under a delusion and unwittingly conspire against the Kingdom of God. God says " why do the nations conspire and the peoples' plot in vain? " Psalm 2 v1.  The Lord God laughs as well, as He watches the foolishness of manmade wisdom. He says "Why do the nations exhaust themselves for nothing? They only labour for fuel for the fire." Habakkuk 2v 13.

Therefore people ignore the comforting messages  of God to them as an individual, and for the world. This is  because they remain in darkness and refuse to come into the Light of Christ. If  only  they could see that Jesus has the answer. He said " I am the way, the truth and the Life."

The Light reveals the truth to us.

The Light  from the Spirit of Christ, illuminates the Word of God to us. His words have meaning to us. They come alive making us want to praise Him. His words give us guidance, and bring healing to us as individuals. The Word of God is confirmed to us as individuals as being truth, and the truth sets us free.

People in the darkness may say "what is the truth? maybe there is no truth!" I know I used to think that, and by denying there is a truth, I was guilty of nailing Jesus to the cross. So I remember this and what  Jesus said before He was crucified. He said that He came to the world to testify the truth. So Pontious Pilate responded to this by saying " What is truth? " John 18v36-37.

Pontious Pilate  didn't want to  be involved with crucifying Christ. Yet he became involved , because he trusted in people more then in trusted in the truth of Christ.

We all do the same thing. We may unintentionally crucify Jesus, through trusting in people more then we trust God. Do we trust Him when He says He gives us truth? Or do we ignore God and speak, think and behave as if there is no truth?

This represents  the world, that  accepts there is no truth. People in darkness do not  know what truth is, and react as  if there is no  such thing as truth.

So if there is no truth, then there is no certainty and no Light. Is this world then without hope and without direction?
Well the answer is that being reconciled to Jesus, we realise there is a truth. This truth is the Light of Christ.

So we can say to people, "Jesus is the truth." People may then argue that we have Muhammed in the middle east, Buddah in the east, Harry Krishner in the west. So surely Jesus is one of the Lights.

The answer to that is that Jesus didn't say I'm one of the Lights.

Jesus said " I am the Light."

He  didn't say that He was the Light of the east or the west.

Jesus said "I am the Light of the world."

So Jesus is The Light, and the only Light.

The Light reveals the truth to the world, and the truth sets us free. The truth is this:
" Our Creator who created  us and the heavens and earth, came to live among us. He humbled Himself so that through His death we have life."

So the Light gives a message of truth to the world.
The Light reveals that we need to have real peace from Christ, before we have peace with the rest of the world.

So we need unity in Christ, before we have a true unity with each other.
For unity without Christ is a unity of darkness. This is false and opposed to God, as revealed in the Light of Christ.

Therefore we are shown what is hidden in the darkness, when the Light of Jesus is switched on in our life.

For Jesus said: " I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the Light of Life."

So the Light of Christ is a guide to  the world, and to us as individuals in our thoughts and actions. I can give some examples.  This is when I have criticised a person or people in the darkness.

So I came to Jesus and said: " I'm sorry about my opinions. Please reveal the truth to me." So I found that my opinions were partially or entirely wrong, in the light of Christ.  Therefore our opinions are only valid when they are in line with the truth and Light of Christ.

Often in the darkness, where there were divisions I've felt that I needed to forgive people. I couldn't see how they needed to forgive me. They probably thought the same thing as well.

So this can be taken to the Light of Christ. It is often revealed that both parties needed to forgive each other. That's the difference between the darkness and the Light.

The Light reveals that we have a merciful Father who is patient with us. He called people to receive Jesus the Light, so that  they can represent His  Light. Then they are called to be Light and Salt of the Earth. Therefore as His representives we are guided to forgive each other, and have patience, like he is patient with us.

When we live in the Light, we have victory over the darkness. For the enemy will do all he can to cause divisions over God's children, as an obstacle preventing them to serve Christ together.

Maybe you can think of brothers and sisters who you had a big fall out with. The likeihood is that the enemy wanted a division and massive misunderstanding between the very people that God has called to work together to serve Him.
The victory can be won for Christ, by living in His Light and crushing down the enemy.

If we give in to the enemy, we will be in darkness and can hold false opinions of others. We can hide our own intentions and deny anything we are doing wrong about ourselves.

In the darkness we are unaware of  the motives of our own intentions. These motives can be anything, like resentment and a lack of love for others. This can lead to  us to thinking falsely  and inaccurately about them.

So living in Christ's light illuminates the truth about other people. The Light also illuminates the motives of our heart. So if we really want to serve Jesus we'd follow what He says, and that will be to have a compassionate and forgiving heart towards others. So divisions can be resolved between our brothers and sisters.

As if we don't love other people, as well as our brothers and sisters, then we don't love Christ either, 1 John 4 v20-21.  So what are our works for?
If we don't love Christ, then our works of apparant 'goodness' mean nothing to Him. The motives of our heart are therefore for other reasons.

Jeremiah 17v 9(KJV) says: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
So in darkness we are often  unaware of  the ungodly motives behind actions, that may well impress us.

Yet, the Light of Christ illuminates the real truth, and exposes what is hidden. So Jesus will  bring to light all the secrets of our heart, 1 Corinthians 4v5.

I can give  examples regarding my heart, that has been illuminated to do so called 'good' things, as a result of wrong motives.

I've had guilt, and because I didn't give this to God I carried this. So I could have had this redeemed through the cross of Jesus , if I came near to Him and confessed what I did wrong. Yet no, I justified my own wrong doing, and in my mind blamed other people. Then did apparantly good things, that impressed other people. I did this to cover for my own wrong, and to want to be seen as good before God.

Though this doesn't work, because works do not justify our wrong, only the blood of Christ does.  Then it was shown to me that I wanted to do all these apparantly wonderful things, so I'd be seen as a good person and my identity was enhanced through this.

So God revealed that our identity is in Him. He is not impressed by works that are done for manmade glorification, such as identity as an intellectual, identity as a Manager, identity as a good person etc. Our identity is in Christ.

For example,we can read lots of books and speak in an intellectual language. Is that because we want others to recognise our identity as being intellectual? So do books take a priority over the Word of God and fit in with the intellect, instead of vice versa.

Only God wants us to have His wisdom and not the worlds.  His Word and Spirit give the world the most accurate and best teachings of all, John 14 v26.

Though by nature we can rely on unreliable teachings instead. When we read some history books and some newspaper articles, we may realise how much is inaccurate.

Newspapers

Some is through heresay, and people  tend to falsely portray others. They slant the truth so that others are seen in the worse possible way.

How many of us go on to believe the exaggerations or lies? How many of us delight in seeing people portrayed so badly. So Hitlar persecuted many people. Yet aren't we just as guilty when we falsely portray others and also enjoy thinking the very worse of them? Matthew 5v21-22, Matthew 15v 18-19.

So the Light illuminates the darkness of our heart. I was shown to enjoy seeing others badly thought of, because it made me feel better about my sin. Well, the truth is that we are all sinners together.

So does the Light sting our eyes, when we have been accustomed to the darkness. Can we face the truth about ourselves, or do we want to deny the secrets of our hearts?

The Light illuminates the darkness to us as individuals, as well as the darkness of all humankind.

Well, the Light exposes the truth and we are all guilty of sin, but the Good news is that we have Jesus to redeem and forgive us, when we turn to Him.

So my prayer is to come to the truth of Christ and may our thoughts, words, actions and motives be guided by Christ's Light. May His Light shine in the darkness to us as individuals, and to the whole world.

When all seems lost, there is always the One Light to look to that will never fail you or let you down.

You never have to experience true darkness again, the Light is always with you to dispel it.

I was thinking about this kind of thing last night.

How can it be, that we can live in a true relationship with God, and also live with the enemy pecking at your head all time.  How can both be so apparent in your life.  I suppose in a way picturing the old imagery of the devil on one shoulder whispering in one ear, and an angel on the other whispering in the other.

How can someone's relationship with God be so apparent to others and yet not to yourself.  Not sure how others conversate with God but with myself it is generally in my mind.  The way I write on here is not how I talk in life, but that doesn't mean my relationship with God is false.  My relationship with God 'in life' is more shown through how I am in life, ie how I speak with others, help others who need help, what job I do, how I treat others etc etc...my life is more to do with actions than words.

Anyway haul my brain back in, so we can have both, or do have both influences in our lives, as well as self.  Its the self that chooses which voice to listen to, problems arising in this, is if 'self' is damaged by life.

With satan/demons/darkness do we think they are more powerful than God? is darkness more powerful than light? where there is light, light will always win.

Theres faith in ourselves, other people, other things and there is faith in God.
Who do we choose to have faith in?
I dont choose myself for many reasons. My understanding is incomplete and I have too many faults and thats the same as everyone. There is an incompleteness.
I dont know peoples true intentions and dont know their motives and dont know their heart. My understanding is incomplete. Though I know someone who does have complete understanding of people inside out and the more we yield to Him the more we understand others, over our own thoughts. Often mine are limited and assumptions. Thats why I like to listen to the counsel of God, who turns my thoughts from negative to positive.
He sets us free and renews our thinking.
Then imagine those who dont have faith in God. They rely on human incompleteness. Imagine someone who is misunderstood by many and devalued by many. There are many people who are misunderstood and devalued. They can be  comforted though by God who knows all and understands all, 100% accurately. People let us down but God doesn't let us down.No one without faith in God can have that reassurance, when they are devalued and misunderstood.Though we can tell them there is a light in their darkness, when they turn their hearts to the light.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matthew 5:11

Amen! you will be restored by the renewal of your mind.  Having the mind of Christ.

He went to all of society, the dejected, rejected, lepers...all of them, put the 'religion' to shame.  Do as I say not as I do.  Would rather be seen praying on a street corner than holding out a hand of love to those with a lonely and hurting heart.

People get stuck at what they see on the outside.  Need to look beyond where people are at...i.e. alcoholics, addicts, prostitutes, beggars...should be concerning more about the hearts of people.  What you see on the outside is an outer expression of a inner heart.

People are hurting, this world is in pain.  People are burdened, and it is true an act of kindness of love, bringing peace to the broken hearted.

Let me tell ya God will heal the broken hearted, set them free, He will raise them up, draw them to Him.  He will teach them His Truth, burning it onto their hearts by His Holy Spirit.

People just need to remember the power of words.

Speak life.

Don't hide ya lights in a bushel.

Be the light of Christ.

Don't be lukewarm for God, but be on fire!

Be crazy for God cos He is crazy for you.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul, and He will direct your paths.  Amen.

I thought this when I saw people promoting atheism and condemning Christianity, tarring a relationship with God as the same brush as religion.

No God
No power
No design no thought
No anchor of morals
No absolute truth
No comfort when theres no one
No understanding when no one does
No one to turn to in silience
No knowing of your heart
No knowing of your motives
No knowing of your intention
No forgiveness in genuine change
No forgiveness in change of heart
No complete understanding of you
No completeness
No true complete justice, no true complete peace, no true complete forgiveness,no true complete love
No real hope
No lasting and no eternity
No light in the darkness
No God.

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

I wanted to respond to this - but not easy. What you have wrote brings up emotion - anger is sadly one of the emotions - let me make it clear, not anger at you or your post. The anger is maybe frustration that people do judge, they do judge by outward appearances and some of those that judge say they are Christian. It saddens me when I see hard hearts amongst Christians (and this is not aimed at anyone here), I come across such face to face - I don't know how to respond to such, other than pray. I often pray God will melt hearts.
