Hell is the punishment for sin, if Jesus did not go there, He did not fully pay for our sins. But satan could not hold Him because of who He was, that was satans big mistake.Jesus went to hell, fought and won the battle with satan, then rose to be with His Father in heaven.

Yes, Jesus went to the very deepest depth of hell.  In our stead He paid the full price of our sins.

"My God, my God, why hast though forsaken Me?"

When Jesus took upon Himself our sins, Jehovah "turned" His back to Him, and Jesus uttered those words. God's righteousness will not oblige sin, so once Jesus took our sins upon Himself, He also had to pay our debt to hell itself, which is the second death.

This is the entirety of the gospel, also known to some as the good news, in that Jesus has paid the full price for our redemption to a Holy and righteous God.

Jesus not only went to hell, but once there, He made an open show of the devil and did so in full view of the fallen angels (what we call demons) that followed lucifer's pride filled rebellion way back during the devil's time in the Garden of Eden.

Hello there,

1 Peter 3:19, 2 Peter 2:4. Acts 2:27 & 31.

* These verses (in their context) show where our Lord went, and to whom He preached.

* Hell, in Acts 2 refers to the grave, or gravedom, not to hell as tradition depicts it.

* The spirits that were in prison, in 2 Peter, were in Tartaroo, translated hell, they were the angels that fell prior to the flood.  To these declared He his victory over death and the grave.

* It is important to let the Word of God speak, all else is supposition.

Yes He did. He died to take the punishment for our sins, the punishment for sin is Hell. I f Jesus did not go to Hell, He did not pay the price for our sin and we are unsaved.

Whether Jesus went to Hell or not, your argument doesn't stack up.

The physical world was under Satan's dominion, ie. he was the prince of the world, therefore the judgement, execution and resurrection of Jesus could all be carried out here.

John12v31Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John14v30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

Hi
Did Christ go to hell all depends on how one defines hell as for me I believe it only means the grave the place of the dead and in the grave we can do nothing good or bad and we have no knowledge of anything.

Ecc 9:5  For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:10  Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

If we are conscious after death it would mean there could not be a resurrection of the dead and we all know this will happen.

Hell is the grave plain and simple we sleep in the grave awaiting the resurrection of the dead there is no fiery furnace and old nick prodding us with his fork that's jest a fairy tale.

Love and Peace
