Dave, You don't have to take my word for it, All you have to do is check up the Hebrew and Greek Bible texts.
You have to know that some scholars don't believe in hell, So they would come against it.
And the same with some Bible translators. So you have to go by the original Hebrew and Greek.

Where do theses so-called scholars say where Jesus went to in Acts 2: 27, & v31?. If you don't know, Try and find out.

I think Iv'e spent enough time looking at what Hebrew and Greek words mean and it's been a great help in supporting my belief that there in no such place as hell of course you are right in saying that that scholars are biased that support my view on the  other hand scholars that support you view are also biased but when we put these views in the balance of common sense for me the weight of evidence comes down on the side of there is no such place as hell and eternal punishment The God of Love would never create such a place and according to scripture he never has if he has show me where.

The only place in scripture that comes anywhere near hell is the lake of fire and I don't believe this is a literal fire I believe It's a purifying fire It will not be a pleasant experience there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth but I'm sure the end result will be worth it and it will not last for ever.

A little advice if I may when you read the scriptures always keep in mind God is Love and could he possibly do these thing that come into you mind I know these doctoring s about hell have been preached for two thousand years I was brought up on them and used to believe them but not any more.

Love and Peace

This had me thinking of refiners fire...purify my heart, make me be of gold and precious silver.  I'm sure people have come across that over the years.

The Hebrew and Greek don't support your beliefs, The Bible at face value, doesn't support your beliefs, Never mind the Hebrew and Greek.

If you don't believe in hell, then where do you draw the line as to what to believe and what not to believe??, You either accept the whole Bible, or you don't accept any of it, you can't pick and chose what you want to believe. because  talks about hell, He knows all about hell, because He went there.

As for God's love, He loves people so much that He will give them what they have chosen, either heaven or hell, God, with great sadness  will have to let those who don't believe, go to hell.
And with great joy  He will receive the believers into heaven.

If the lake of fire was a purifying place, That means you believe the devil, the beast and the false prophet will be purified. Rev 20: 10.
Your not believing hell, doesn't take away the fact that it's very real place.

I wasn't saying that was what the place hell does, I was simply saying what davetaff said had me thinking of that.

What is the purpose and what is the refiners fire? purifying your heart, making it as gold and silver? ... not saying the place this happens is hell, sorry should have clarified.  Just him using the word refine had me think of this further question, maybe should open a different thread about it, in fact I will please don't respond to my posts re this here :D

Hell is the punishment for sin, if Jesus did not go there, He did not fully pay for our sins. But satan could not hold Him because of who He was, that was satans big mistake.Jesus went to hell, fought and won the battle with satan, then rose to be with His Father in heaven.
