There is a 'spiritual' side to mental illness, just as there is a physical side to it. Iam cautious about saying mental health problems have a spiritual cause and double so if it is heading towards exorcisms etc. I don't rule them out but would suggest a joint approach. Of getting medical advice, taking the medication for long enough for it to have an affect and also getting councelling from a Christian councellor.

Those who are physically sick are vunerable and need special care. Those who are mentally ill are doubly so and need extra special care. This is an unseen illness those who suffer often have no physical sign that they are ill.

The problem being, in consulting medical personel, they are not really spiritual friendly in approach.  How can I trust my doctor to decide medication is best for me, if they have zero understanding of spiritual affairs.  How do you trust it actually is in your best interests.  I don't assume doctors have discernment in this area to make the most informed decision.  So how do you balance that?  Please note though, I am not saying taking medication is wrong, don't want anyone to think that.

Its an interesting exercise to read the gospels and see how Jesus dealt with mental issues.

Its another interesting exercise to realise that most modern health sciences is based on various early specialists who took drugs and channeled demons to get their "scientific" knowledge!
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

That's an inflammatory statement - what exactly do you mean, and who are you referring to?

Carl Jung for one. He had a spirit guide called Philemon and was also into automatic writing, a really great source of "wisdom" for our psychologists today. Not.

The famous Myers Briggs charts go back to Jung.

Myers Briggs is a favourite even for christian counseling, and is often used to determine what ministry types people are. Quite incredible really to source christian wisdom in the occult. lol
