Psalm 91:11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

I suppose we could also ask why there are so many people ?

Angels are not needed by God as God could do all without them....however they are there to give glory to God on the Throne and to worship Him

They also serve the King as messengers [Apostles - Prophets]

Maybe there is an angel per person ever created, that is why there is so many...they have various roles.  What do you think this spiritual war in the heavenlies is about?  All of creation testifies to God and has a role.

Hi
Angle only means messenger and when we consider the vastness of the universe and the number of stars and planets it seams reasonable to assume there are other living beings out there that need to hear Gods message.
Jest a thought no scripture to back it up

Well no Angel is primarily a being created by God and in Spirit.

Angel can mean messenger in many parts of the bible - yet it also can imply only a heavenly messenger

For instance I can be said to be "a messenger"  but in no way am I an Angel created by God [in the spiritual]

It is taking a metaphor to the extreme [forgetting the greek translation]

Jesus is also an Angel in the bible - but I am Not Jesus

Although I can be a messenger of God's word - I can never be God.

[the same argument is seen with "I am already seated in heavenly places" and yet the reality of that might be said to be "I am depressed and fedup with life"

What exists in the heavenlies "may not be my oewn personal experience in reality [life]

Because it has not yet filtered through to my own experience.
