2 John 1:1-2

King James Version (KJV)

1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

2 John 1:1-2

Jubilee Bible 2000 (JUB)

1 ? The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,
2 for the truth?s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

1 John wrote this letter a special lady. He does not say who but, they were a follower of Christ as were her children. John does encourage other believers from reading this letter. The word is meant to instruct and encourage the believers and is meant to point the unbelievers to Jesus.

2 The truth abides in us by the Holy Spirit and will keep us going. The truth is also the word which Jesus is the Word and we will be rejoined to Him one day, therefore never being apart from the word. No one will ever be able to do away with the word or truth; they may just not accept it.

One day I will be home

The elder John now nearing or beyond one hundred years of age see : John 21:22 , speaking to John and showing him the things that would be in Revelation 1:1

John the Apostle that Jesus loved John 20:2

Speaking of "A Lady"  or "A Church" and it i not known of whom John spoke but the point being that this lady was not world famous or renowned but an "ordinary person" that was known by God

And knowing God, this Lady and her children "where loved"

You could say "the Lady that God loved"

Being that the "Lady" endured unto the "the last days"

It coiuld be read as meaning " follow me and endure to the end"

this is what John did even while being enslaved on patmos along with criminals he "endured"  Luke 23:32-43

The lady therefore can signify "the Church enduring in the last days"

Matthew 16:28  John 21:19

The reflection of Jesus on earth and in heaven 1 Corinthians 13:12

"If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?
