I think Pope Francis makes a good point.

A Christian who is only good for selfish reasons such as getting into heaven or out of fear of punishment doesn't deserve to go to heaven.

An atheist who is good, believing there to be no reward for this good behavior, is ironically more deserving of entry to heaven than the Christian.

Was more in response to Mantigers post :)

In  fact both statements are out

Ive never known anyone to be called by God and being saved being good through fear of hell , in fact I can't see how a Christian could

However there are plenty of good people thinking they will get to heaven, which they will , whether they stay there is another matter

O I can't comment on the catholic faith, I don't know anything about it  :) I was referring to the general eg:
I don't believe that statement is correct
I do however believe that a person can come to Jesus /God without going through the traditional church setup
