Amen :D

How on earth did we let this thread fizzle out? It must surely be one of the most important ones on the forum.

Each one of us individually, and all of us collectively, need to be eating of the tree of life.

We need to completely dump the whole rotten stinking baggage of Tree of Knowledge Christianity.
Disturb us Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves. When our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little. When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore. Disturb us Lord, to dare more boldly. To venture on wider seas. Where storms will show your mastery; Where, losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. We ask you to push back the horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future, in strength, courage, hope and love.                     (SIR FRANCIS DRAKE 1577)

While you could be right about this thread, why would it surprise us? Has man ever moved just right straight down the highway of holiness without every looking to one side or the other? Has man, even when he has heard from God, bent over backwards to always obey without ceasing whatever "thus saith the Lord"?

Been getting or thinking a lot bout water last few days, seas, lakes, rain, rivers etc....then my wee 5 yr old drew me a picture yesterday teatime of waves in a sea and a beach with a girl on it (with a star hairslide bless) which quite stopped me in my tracks.  This scripture come up today so thought would share..

Isaiah 43-44
Israel's Only Savior

43   But now thus says the LORD,  he who created you, O Jacob,    he who formed you, O Israel:  ?Fear not, for I have redeemed you;    I have called you by name, you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;  when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,    and the flame shall not consume you.  For I am the LORD your God,    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.  I give Egypt as your ransom,    Cush and Seba in exchange for you.  Because you are precious in my eyes,    and honored, and I love you,  I give men in return for you,    peoples in exchange for your life.  Fear not, for I am with you;    I will bring your offspring from the east,    and from the west I will gather you.  I will say to the north, Give up,    and to the south, Do not withhold;  bring my sons from afar    and my daughters from the end of the earth,  everyone who is called by my name,    whom I created for my glory,    whom I formed and made.?

Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes,    who are deaf, yet have ears!  All the nations gather together,    and the peoples assemble.  Who among them can declare this,    and show us the former things?  Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right,    and let them hear and say, It is true.  ?You are my witnesses,? declares the LORD,    ?and my servant whom I have chosen,  that you may know and believe me    and understand that I am he.  Before me no god was formed,    nor shall there be any after me.  I, I am the LORD,    and besides me there is no savior.  I declared and saved and proclaimed,    when there was no strange god among you;    and you are my witnesses,? declares the LORD, ?and I am God.  Also henceforth I am he;    there is none who can deliver from my hand;    I work, and who can turn it back??

Thus says the LORD,    your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:  ?For your sake I send to Babylon    and bring them all down as fugitives,    even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice.  I am the LORD, your Holy One,    the Creator of Israel, your King.?

Thus says the LORD,    who makes a way in the sea,    a path in the mighty waters,  who brings forth chariot and horse,    army and warrior;  they lie down, they cannot rise,    they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:  ?Remember not the former things,    nor consider the things of old.  Behold, I am doing a new thing;    now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?  I will make a way in the wilderness    and rivers in the desert.  The wild beasts will honor me,    the jackals and the ostriches,  for I give water in the wilderness,    rivers in the desert,  to give drink to my chosen people,    the people whom I formed for myself  that they might declare my praise

I remember praying to God that I could find my homework and if He let me find my homework, then I would always be  His, [ or something like that]

long time ago now

Oh I have to ask - did you find your homework? :D

This is a good thread though, I am learning lots and still processing :D.

God can speak through anything and anyone - or that is what I believe. I do have to wonder (as I am prone to do), do people sometimes place limitations on God - try to restrict what He can and can't do? Believing God can do anything - does He draw back if we place our limitations on Him?

Revelation - yes. In the past the Bible was dead to me - I could read it, but it didn't mean much. I guess I could've understood it to some extent with my limited reasoning; but I know I need God to reveal things to me and that is not just the Bible - as I said I believe He can work through anything or anyone to reveal things. Yes I will admit that I am wary at times, having been fooled/deceived in the past, but that does not stop me listening - or learning - instead just makes me pray more, usually for discernment. The more I trust God the more trustworthy He feels and there are times when I have to remind myself - God can be trusted - I know this (I still need to remind myself from time to time though).

Just wanted to add, it is not just 'feeling' God is trustworthy (although feelings do come into it), it is knowing God is trustworthy. Even if at times I can doubt - which is why I need to remind myself sometimes. Maybe on a similar vein to taste and see that God is good? Can't remember the exact scripture, but just popped into my head. The more we experience that God is good/trustworthy, etc the more we know it? Typing/thinking aloud here.

O yes found the homework - silly prayer really as if I was His I would be and if I was not then I would simply be using my own power.

Hi
Thinking about the tree of life and the tree of knowledge I've always thought the tree of life was withdrawn and access denied until we eat of it in the Kingdom of God.
But we do have access to the tree of knowledge and I believe we were meant to eat of it otherwise why did God create it I believe it was all for the sake of love god wants us to love him for that to happen we must choose to do it without the choice of alternatives we could not love him as we should.
Love comes at a very great price look what it cost the son of God.

Love and Peace

But if the kingdom of God is upon you now, then why is the tree of life not being accessed now?  Suppose depends on what you think the tree of life is or represents.

Jesus died, the veil was torn, the kingdom and inner temple became available to all and not just the levitical priesthood, ie everyone became a part of that priesthood.  The guards disappeared, He fulfilled the law.  The tree of knowledge, the law became less than the tree of life and Jesus.

So why isn't the tree of life accessed now, would be my question.
