Fix U.K.'s Broken Corporate Tax Rate

You know corporate tax rates are broken when companies like Google pay less than 0.15% in U.K. taxes on their nearly £3 billion annual sales.

And Google isn't the only one. Chancellor George Osborne has implemented a 5% corporate tax cut across the board to entice companies like Google to invest further in the U.K.

The international taxation rate in Britain was already one of the lowest in the world; now it'll drop even further.

Osborne is just making the problem worse!  By decreasing the international tax rate, he's incentivizing an environment where foreign corporations can get away with paying comparatively minimal amounts in taxes.

We need to be focused on establishing international agreements that improve Britain's economy. Let's deter corporations from capitalizing on grey areas and loopholes -- demand a fix for the U.K.'s faulty corporate tax rate!

Dear Gynoticians: Time to Hang It Up

From Arizona to Indiana, North Dakota to Mississippi, in statehouses and in the halls of Congress, politicians are ramping up their attacks on women's health, pushing laws and proposals that would get between women and the medical professionals who provide them care.

We have a name for these politicians posing as experts - they are Gynoticians - and we've had enough of their relentless attempts to limit every woman's right to make her own health care decisions.

It's time to send a message to Gynoticians everywhere: No matter what lie you tell, no matter where you attack, we will fight back.

Together, we're stronger - our voices are louder. Add your name today and tell them: Your license to practice is hereby revoked. It's time to hang up that stethoscope.

Stand Against Seismic Testing Near Kangaroo Island!

Seismic testing can cause hearing loss, internal bleeding, and even death in marine wildlife. But the government still might allow Bight Petroleum to use it to explore for oil and gas between Kangaroo Island and Eyre Peninsula.

The waters around Kangaroo Island are one of just three breeding grounds for endangered blue whales in the entire world. In addition, the island boasts thriving whale, sea lion and dolphin populations, all of which are at risk of harm from seismic testing.

The Kangaroo Island Council hopes that Environmental Minister Mark Butler will understand the island's importance to South Australia and reject Bight Petroleum's application.

Please sign the petition to urge Mark Butler to stand against seismic testing near Kangaroo Island!

Tell Iowa Rep. Steve King to Stop Opposing Animal Protection

The influence of Iowa Rep. Steve King's extreme anti-animal views extends well beyond the borders of his home state. King led the fight to try to block legislation that would crack down on the barbaric practices of dogfighting and cockfighting nationwide, and has consistently voted against even the most basic protections for animals, such as including pets in disaster planning. He recently introduced an amendment to the Farm Bill seeking to nullify state and local laws dealing with animal welfare and food safety around the country!

Rep. King is one of the most senior Republican members of the powerful House Agriculture Committee. So many pieces of federal animal protection legislation go to this committee and can be held up by King and other enemies of animal protection. Given his powerful committee post, King's anti-animal positions affect animal welfare nationwide.

Please sign our petition today to tell King we won't stand for his extreme anti-animal agenda anymore.

Tell the EPA: Keep our Water Clean and Safe

Coal-fired power plants produce more toxic waste than any other industry in the United States, including the chemical, plastic, and paint manufacturing industries. They spew millions of pounds of pollutants into our waters every year -- and they'll keep at it as long as Reagan-era EPA rules go unchanged.

Tell the EPA that we need the strongest possible safeguards against toxic wastewater. We can't wait another 30 years to get this right!

Call on Congress to Keep Medicare Strong

Our elected leaders owe it to all Americans to take responsible action to secure Medicare for future generations, while keeping the promise they've made to seniors.

Yet too many politicians say the only way to strengthen Medicare is to cut benefits or make seniors pay more.

There is a better way.

We need responsible solutions that keep Medicare strong, not harmful cuts. We need solutions that improve care, reduce health care costs, fight fraud, and find real savings for taxpayers.

Make sure your members of Congress and President Obama know where you stand. Add your name to the open letter now!

Protect Appalachia from Destructive Mountaintop Removal

Every day the wildlands of Appalachia are under attack as millions of pounds of explosives are detonated in the mountains, sending toxic dust into the air.

Then the mining waste is then dumped directly into streams, poisoning water and destroying wildlife habitats and human communities.

Right now Congress has the opportunity to place a moratorium on this dangerous practice -- and we need your help to make that happen.

People living in areas of mountaintop removal mining face significantly elevated rates of cancer, birth defects and other major health problems like kidney, heart and respiratory diseases. And what's bad for people is also bad for wildlife. Mountaintop removal threatens endangered species found nowhere else in the world.

A new bill in Congress would protect Appalachia from mountaintop removal and ensure that human health and endangered species aren't sacrificed for the coal industry's profit.

Please, ask your representatives to support the Appalachian Community Health Emergency Act and place a moratorium on mountaintop removal permits.

Daily Voice : Tell the EU to Stop Investing in Animal Suffering

Tell the EU to Stop Investing in Animal Suffering

Investing in developing countries is good, but not at the cost of animal welfare. A new report documents how European banks and credit agencies invest in agribusinesses that fail to meet the European Union's own standards for humane treatment of farm animals.

These agribusinesses confine pigs in tight sow crates, pack chickens into battery cages, and then export their farm products to the EU, bypassing animal welfare laws and hurting local farms trying to do the right thing.

The EU has made good progress in improving animal welfare standards within its member states' borders. Now let us work together to extend that policy to EU investments too.

Sign the petition to help us put an end to investments in animal suffering.
