Daily Voice : Don't Let the Feds Take Over the CBC!

Don't Let the Feds Take Over the CBC!

Bill C-60, the Tories’ budget implementation bill, would essentially make Stephen Harper the CBC's new boss.

The independent CBC has been completely separate from governments in power for years, and that's the way it should be. This bill includes a clause that allows Harper's cabinet to approve salaries, working conditions and collective bargaining positions for the CBC, according to The Hill Times.

We don't need a broadcaster for the government. We need an independent, objective team of reporters that will report the facts without fear of consequences. This is how we maintain a democratic society.

Please sign this petition today to oppose the bill C-60 clause that would allow government to interfere with the CBC!

Last Call: Stand AGAINST the Keystone XL Pipeline

A final decision is expected by summer on the Keystone XL pipeline — one of the most critical environmental battles of our time.

To overcome the powerful influence of the oil industry, we need to keep up the pressure and build even broader opposition to the pipeline.

That's why we are making one last call for EVERYONE to stand up and send a clear message to President Obama and Secretary Kerry to reject this pipeline.

Rarely mentioned is the devastating environmental and health costs (not just on the US, but on Canada) of extracting the dirty oil that would flow through the proposed pipeline from Alberta's Tar Sands.

You can help even more by:

- Watching White Water, Black Gold to witness the untold costs associated with Canada's Tar Sands.

- Organizing a Home or Community Screening of the film to help build greater opposition.

Please Sign this petition to stand in opposition to the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Daily Voice : Urge Congress to Stand Up Against Child Trafficking

Urge Congress to Stand Up Against Child Trafficking

Worldwide, 5.5 million children are innocent victims of forced labor and child trafficking. They have been bought and sold, forced into prostitution, or made to work in jobs with grueling and dangerous conditions with little or no pay.

Their childhoods are being stolen.

Thousands of these children live right here in the United States. The U.S. is a source, destination, and transit point for trafficking victims.

Human trafficking has been reported in ALL 50 states.

UNICEF works to protect all children from violence, exploitation, and abuse -- aiming to reduce factors that make children vulnerable to trafficking and creating protective environments that guard children against exploitation. It's time for our political leaders to join the fight and fully support programs that reduce and prevent child trafficking.

Send a message to your representative today urging them to take bold action to end child trafficking in the United States and across the globe!

Daily Voice : Pledge to Invest in the Green Economy!

Pledge to Invest in the Green Economy!

If you were to imagine an environmentally-friendly economy in the future, what would that look like? How would we have transformed energy, transportation, natural resource management, agriculture, etc. in order to make environmental sustainability a top priority?

These are the kinds of questions you should be thinking about when deciding which companies deserve your personal financial investment. Fortunately, now there are mutual funds that seek to invest in a portfolio of forward-thinking companies without adding in a bunch of polluters for equal measure.

The Shelton Green Alpha Fund seeks to carefully select a portfolio of Green Economy companies in transportation, communication, commerce, infrastructure, materials, energy, agriculture and water.

It's time that we felt good about the companies in which we invest for the promising future we all crave. Take this pledge today to promote a green and thriving economy by investing in the right technologies and business strategies.

Shelton Green Alpha Fund is distributed by RFS Partners, a member of FINRA and affiliate of Shelton Capital Management. Neither Shelton Capital Management nor RFS Partners are affiliated with Green Alpha Advisors.

Green Alpha's environmental focus may limit the investment options available to the Fund and may result in lower returns than returns of funds not subject to such investment considerations. There are no assurances that the Fund will achieve its objective and/or strategy. Investing in securities of small and medium sized companies, even indirectly, may involve greater volatility than investing in larger and more established companies.

Australia: Cease ALL Live Animal Exports to Egypt

Australian Agriculture Minister Joe Ludwig continues to defend live animal exports, calling the shocking recent footage from Egypt an "anomaly". It's been seven years since the government first issued an identical statement, yet evidence of cruel and malicious export practice still surfaces regularly.

Recently we watched shocking videos of terrified Australian cattle who were shipped to Egypt, having their eyes stabbed, tendons slashed, throats cut open, and bodies otherwise tortured while they were still alive!

This is not a practice our country should be associated with and cattle are not the only species that suffer. Australian livestock groups have called on the government to exclude Egypt from our live export trade agreements, and even that doesn't quite tackle the principle of the issue.

Tell the Ministry of Agriculture that we need to forego live exports for their viable alternatives, and we must act immediately before our country's credibility is tarnished even further.

Companies and green investments are just another way to part the fool from his money.
As Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun and like all other so called "good" investments, this to is not for the investor, but for the company who is doing the investing.

The financial system is a parasite on the world of business. Banks use other peoples money to make obscene profit. Investment companies make obscene profit from using money, not theirs, and while your return as an investor may go down as well as up the return to the investment company never goes down.

Could this be why the good book enjoins us to make our investment in the bank of heaven, for where your gold is that is where your heart will be.
