Fire Animal Abusers of Cows & Implement Stricter Laws on Handling them At Dairy Farms!

Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to bring to light the fact that handlers and workers at a Birnamwood Dairy Farm have been video-taped abusing and harming the cows. Mercy for Animals placed the undercover cameras in an attempt to further investigate any cruelty and abuse of these poor animals.

Owners and family members of this family-owned dairy farm in Birnamwood, WI appeared to be appalled and shocked when they were presented with the video coverage showing their staff kicking and punching cows, spraying them in the face with high-pressure water hoses and cutting off cows' tails with pruning shears. No one contested the events shown on the video coverage of the Andrus Dairy Farm taped by an animal rights group known as Mercy for Animals. The proprietors vow that they intended to curb such abuse from ever reoccurring.

The owner of the farm, Mr. Andrus stated that "We were shocked to see some of our employees not following appropriate animal-handling practices on our farm. No one in our family was aware of such conduct occurring on our farm." In addition to the video tapes, an undercover investigator was also sent to work at the farm for more than a month to see the handling up close. He was hired at the farm and wore a hidden camera while trying to keep a low profile from other fellow farmers. Despite the abuse around him, he tried not to draw any suspicion while proving the case. He stated that "This is not an isolated incident. This is representative of the kinds of treatment of animals at dairy farms across the country."

Mercy for Animals continue their quest to investigate other dairy farms and ensure that such practices are stopped. We are seeking the harshest punishment for such abusers including having them fired. Dairy farms need to ensure their workers are highly trained on proper animal care, that they be fully monitored with their own cameras throughout all facilities and implement strict laws against any abuse or cruelty - no second chances. Once an abuser is let go, they need to be banned from ever owning, caring for or working with animals in any capacity for the rest of their lives. If facilities do not abide by these stipulations, they need to be shut down immediately. These videos are so horrific; you can view photos and the full story at http://www.stevenspointjournal.com/story/news/local/2014/11/12/animal-rights-group-filmed-video-cow-abuse/18911327/.

We urge you to please support this very important issues and help to protect farm animals and those in dairy facilities from being so cruelly treated and abused.

Daily Voice : U.S.- Stop Tiger Breeding Without Permits

U.S.- Stop Tiger Breeding Without Permits

In the United States, thousands of tigers languishing in tiny, filthy cages and are dropping off the radar daily as there is no one monitoring what happens to them next.

"Generic tigers" that are inbred, crossbred or otherwise not considered purebred, are discarded into the pet trade, warehoused in tiny, barren cells or worse; ending up on dinner menus, skinned, stuffed or disappearing into the black market trade.

Back in the 1980s the US Fish & Wildlife Service decided it was too much bother to deal with every back yard breeder who wanted a permit to breed tigers, so they created a "generic tiger" loophole. It essentially states that if you are not a legitimate American Zoological Association accredited zoo, which must conform to permitting requirements to breed purebred tigers, then you can breed, exploit and discard tigers at will and with virtually no oversight.

Please rescind the "generic tiger" loophole and require that all tiger breeding require a costly permit that insures the lifetime care of the tiger.

Revise the STAAR Test and new math TEKS to make them age appropriate for 3-8!

Â? We are petitioning for our Texas Legislatures to address these 3 issues in the upcoming session.

1) Revise the STAAR Assessment to make it an appropriate lengthÂ? for our 3-8 students.Â?

2) Reduce the number of math concepts taught in each grade to allow for teaching more depth.

Â? 3) Refocus the Math TEKS on standard math principles and models.Â?

The STAAR test length must be revised to a more appropriate length for our students. Research shows that students can pay attention an average of 3 to 5 minutes for every year of their age. An average 3rd grader without any attention issues would be able to focus an average of 24 to 45 minutes. However, the STAAR test is designed as a 4 hour test. It has 54 math questions, the same number of math questions as the SAT. The following day, students will be again testing, this time with a 5 story reading test , each story having 8-10 critical thinking questions. It is in no way appropriate for our young students to be taking a test as long as high school graduate would take on an SAT. Something must change!

In addition to the test itself, the state has approved new math standards that are not good for our students. Many skills have moved down several grade levels, and skills that students struggled with in previous grades are now being introduced even younger. There are exceptionally more skills to cover, and all before the STAAR test. This makes depth impossible, as teaching skills requires introducing and mastering the basic skill before higher level problem solving can be introduced. With the number and pacing of these new skills, our children are being left in the dust.
There is also a new "Common Core" direction the new skills are trying to take students and teachers, that seems to be only confusing and harmful to our students. Rather than focusing on finding the correct answer, these new skills now focus on the many different processes our children could use to find the answer. Many questions are asking how students would find an answer using different methods, rather than what the answer is. This means that rather than focusing on teaching the standard method for our basic math, teachers are required to teach our students at least 5 different ways to subtract. Many of the skills in our new math TEKS were literally cut and pasted verbatim from Common Core curriculum, which has been outlawed in our state under House Bill 462. This method is not good for our kids and leaves parents in the dark trying to help their children. This is actually causing confusing and hindering students from developing good math skills.

Help Protect Polar Bears from Climate Change

Help Protect Polar Bears from Climate Change

The majestic polar bear isn't just an arctic icon -- it's a critical component of the arctic ecosystem. But as climate change is melting their hunting ground, many are starving and forced to swim extreme distances between ice floes. Two-thirds of the world's polar bears could be lost in as few as 35 years. If we do nothing to change the path we're on, they could be wiped out.

The best way to protect them is to limit carbon pollution and stop climate change, through policies like the EPA's Clean Power Plan. But Congress has made attacking the plan a top priority -- despite overwhelming public support for climate action.

Take Action: Help protect polar bears. Tell Congress to let the EPA do its job, and to support strong climate standards.

Congress, Don't Fast Track Trade Treaties that Roll Back Food Protections!

Congress, Don't Fast Track Trade Treaties that Roll Back Food Protections!

When it comes to food quality, we’ve been led to believe that we can vote with our dollar. But in fact, there are new trade agreements in the works that would intentionally undermine consumer choice and toxify our food supply.

William Warren, a senior trade analyst for Friends of the Earth, says these agreements are a direct attack on consumers’ right to know and will affect the capacity of government to regulate food safety. For example, with both the Atlantic and Pacific trade agreements, shellfish and farm-raised fish from Asia, often produced in filthy conditions and treated with antibiotics and dangerous chemicals, would be deregulated. Americans would have to accept other countries’ claims that the food is safe. Also the volume of food imported “would overwhelm the very meager border inspections that we have.”

Worst of all, adds Warren, specific provisions in these agreements would roll back labeling that would let you know how the food was produced or even its origin.

These provisions are intended to unleash what Warren calls a “tsunami of unsafe foods.” Even worse, these trade deals are allowed to be Fast tracked through Congress, hindering its ability to debate or amend the deal and the public’s access to its contents.

The Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement is now under consideration, so it’s important to act fast to stop Congress from fast-tracking a treaty that would further toxify our food supply.

Tell the Liberal National Party to celebrate International Women's Day at venues that admit women!

The Queensland Liberal National Party has announced it is holding an International Women's Day event at a club that only allows men!

The venue, Tattersall’s Club, is a 150-year-old club that invites memberships from among the business and political elite – unless they are women.

The choice of venue has sparked outrage. But the vice president of the Liberal National party women’s group, Peta Simpson, has defended the decision, saying the exclusive men-only club represented the best value and is the ideal place to protest, though the event would not involve any criticism of the venue itself.

In fact the organizer of the event complained that there's not an International Men's Day as well!

Holding an event to celebrate women at a venue that excludes women goes against the spirit of International Women’s Day.

Sadly, it sends a message to women that it’s okay to exclude women.

As a way of sending a message that it's not okay to exclude anyone based on gender, we ask the Liberal National Party to pledge to only choose venues that welcome everyone in the future.

Please sign and share the petition to tell the Liberal National Party to celebrate future International Women’s Day events at venues that admit women!

DEMAND Wilcox County DA file FELONY Animal Cruelty charges against teens that beheaded puppies.

The two teens, one 17 and one 18 year old high school students BEHEADED 3 puppies, video taped it and posted on Snapchat. They were proud of their evil act and now are acting remorseful.   Their remorse is they were caught.

The Sheriff is trying to sweep this under the rug calling it a prank. This type behavior is demented and sick and these two should be charged with FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES.  Studies show that people that abuse animals will abuse people.  We have to be the voice to speak for these murdered animals.   See articles below

Strengthen Regulations To Include Any Form of Animal Cruelty in the Registration Act!

Tennessee has created an Animal Abuser Registry that currently includes all felony offenders of animal cruelty. This is a program that should be implemented on a national level but needs to have stronger bearing to stop the many forms of abuse, neglect and cruelty that animals endure on a daily basis. This new law is aimed at preventing future animal abuse but the current registry is limited to felony animal cruelty offenders. Animal advocates are fearful that this law is not strong enough, saying "In my opinion it's not strong enough to be able to capture the group of people we want to look at, which are the animal abusers; whether it's neglect and abuse or something much more serious."Animal abusers on all levels whether a felony or misdemeanor, offenders of hoarding or neglect; anyone that mistreats an animal need to be placed on this animal abusers registry. As stated by a spokesperson for the animal advocates, "people who abuse animals still go to shelters and adopt more animals. That's a fact. It's well documented that people who do this progress onto other things like murders and serial killings.” Don’t wait until a felony is committed to save the life and well-being of an animal. Most abuse starts minor but never stops there! Help us in our efforts to encourage a stronger law involved in this animal abuse registry in Tennessee by signing and sharing this petition. We have got to be a voice for those without one and help to save them from abusers.
