Please sign and share this petition in an effort to demand the harshest penalties possible for those responsible for eight horses that were found in abused, deplorable condition. So far, charges have not been filed but these animals cannot express how poorly they feel without proper care and nourishment. Let's be their voices and help them on the road to recovery.
In recent months, the Vermont Spring Hill Horse Rescue of Clarendon was alerted to and saved eight highly abused horses. This case was being investigated in Rutland County for some time until the rescue was able to go and save these poor animals. The local animal cruelty alerted the authorities and the horses were finally rescued.
Each of the eight horses rescued were in various stages of neglect and cruelty. Three of them were removed and placed with the Spring Hill Horse Rescue for a re-feeding program, veterinary and farrier care. The five remaining horses were found at a later date since they were illegally moved to another location. With the assistance of law enforcement, they too were rescued and now being attended to.
Join us in our efforts to be a voice for those poor, abused, neglected horses and ensure that these owners are punished to the fullest extent of the law. Please sign this petition and share it on all your media sites to spread the news and get a conviction.
Reindeer might seem to be cropping up everywhere during the holidays, but a new study in The Journal of Nature Conservation shows that their worldwide populations have been declining all over the world. In China, the reindeer population has declined by 40 percent over the past four decades.Scientists have identified several different reasons for their decline, including inbreeding (due to the species' small, isolated populations) and poaching for antlers. Climate change and traffic accidents have also contributed significantly to reindeer deaths. We cannot afford to lose this iconic species, yet they currently have few protections. Please sign the petition to urge the IUCN to upgrade reindeer on their Red List to afford them greater protections, particularly in China where the species has seen the greatest decline.
The factory farm industry harms more than animals. Pollution and odors from industrial farms pose considerable health risks and decrease the quality of life for those who live nearby. All too often, the affected populations are people of color in low-income communities.
North Carolina's industrial hog farms are sickening residents, and Native Americans, Latinos and African Americans are disproportionately affected. Bodily waste from millions of swine is stored in giant cesspools, then sprayed onto nearby fields where nitrates, harmful bacteria, and parasites seep into the water supply. Nearby residents are suffering from high blood pressure, runny noses and eyes, bronchitis and asthma. This is to say nothing of the wretched stench they must endure constantly.
These factory farms are violating the civil rights of people who live nearby. Please sign the petition to urge the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources to regulate the state's factory farms to prevent adverse effects on citizens' health and quality of life!
Please sign and share this petition in an effort to extremely punish a man who was charged with hanging 25 dead cats from trees. However, he has not been charged for killing the cats! If he did not kill the cats or have any responsibility, where did he “collect” 25 dead felines? Someone needs to further investigate and put this monster away. Please help in these efforts and gain justice for those poor kitties placed in plastic bags and hung from a tree like a piece of trash!!
A man named Rene Carcamo is under investigation after a public works crew discovered 25 cats in black plastic bags were hanging from trees very close to where the man lives. It was determined that the animals were already deceased when placed in the bags and then hung from the tree limbs. Necropsy of a couple of the animals thus far shows that they died due to sharp blows to the head.
Mr. Carcamo has not been charged so far with any of the deaths; only for illegally disposing of the dead cats. No one seems to be concerned as to how he got the dead cats and why he would place them in the plastic bags to hang from the tree in such a grisly manner.
Thus far, the only charges that Mr. Carcamo is facing are a violation of environmental law with a maximum penalty of one year in jail. Further investigation needs to continue to find out why this guy had all these dead animals and the role he played in their deaths.
Aside from the current charges related to the dead cats hanging from a tree, he is also charge with animal cruelty. Such charges culminated when investigating the man’s home where they found to sick kittens and five other cats found in poor health and severely neglected. He was advised to get the animals vet care which he did not. There is something abusive about the way he treats animals and investigators need to dig deep and find out his ties to the deaths of these poor cats and what would draw him to do something so inhumane as hang these deceased animals from a tree. Help to get this guy fully charged for his involvement in this case by signing and sharing this petition anywhere and everywhere possible as we speak out for all those poor kitties.
A hunter from Wisconson killed and endangered black rhino while on safari in Namibia, Africa. The United States granted permission for the American hunter, (David K. Reinke, CEO of Liberty Parts Team), to import his trophy back into the U.S. There are only 5,000 black rhinos left in the wild.
Setting a new precedent, it is first time any endangered species taken from the wild has ever been allowed to be imported into the United States.
The hunter claims that the $175,000 he paid to kill the rhino will go towards conserving them. But killing endangered species doesn't conserve them, it encouages safari hunters to kill even more of them.
Teresa Telecky, Director of the Wildlife Department at Humane Society International says,"I hear this argument all the time, The money trophy hunters leave in the country will improve the conservation of the species. But whenever we actually investigate how much money and where it's going, we just can't find evidence to verify this. " She continues, "In fact, in this particular case, the $175,000 that this fellow left in Namibia in return for his rhino, is going into a general fund which is tapped for all sorts of things, including rural development, which might not be good for the species at all."
Tell the United States to uphold ban the trade in endangered species and stop granting permits to import safari hunt trophies.
