Demand that Myanmar and China crackdown on the sale of Ivory and save the Elephants!!

Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to stop the untimely death of elephants being murdered for their ivory.

In China, it's illegal to kill elephants for their ivory and sell their tusks. But somehow,  30 tusks and thousands of pieces of ivory were recently discovered for sale at a market in Mong La.       Investigations into wildlife monitoring and trafficking noted that this market could be one of the biggest unregulated ivory markets in Asia. How could this be if laws exist? Ivory is openly displayed at this market in the Eastern Shan State of China to cater to the many tourists that visit. There is obviously no form of government control to stop the sale of ivory throughout China and other Asian countries.

The problem has also reached epidemic levels in Myanmar, considered as the second largest elephant population area worldwide, just after India. It is believed that about 6,000 elephants in the wild still roam the lands of Myanmar. It has laws forbidding trade in endangered species, but violations are rampant, especially in remote border regions. The laws need to be more strictly enforced!

Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to stop the untimely death of elephants just so their ivory can be sold worldwide. We need China and Myanmar to crackdown on the illegal sale of ivory in our efforts to protect the elephant.

Daily Voice : List the Sun Bears in Sumatra as Endangered

List the Sun Bears in Sumatra as Endangered

The Mayayan sun bear is the smallest bear in the world- about 4 feet tall when standing on its hind legs. Also known as the honey bear, it is primarily found in tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia and on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo in Indonesia.

So much is known about the destruction of the rainforsests in Indonesia being replaced by palm oil plantations- and the animals being driven to extinction- such as the Sumatran tiger, orangutan, elephant and rhino; but less in known about the sun bear, and it was listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as "data defiecient" until 2007.

In addition to leveling the Sumatra forest, logging roads create convenient access for poachers. As natural food sources disappear, sun bears are driven by hunger to forage for food on  plantations, where they are shot or trapped by angry farmers. Often. sun bears are kept as pets. The mother bears are killed in order to obtain cubs young enough to tame.

The demand for bear products used in Traditional Asian Medicine is another threat as it prescribes bear fat, gall, meat, paws, spinal cord, blood, and bones for complaints ranging from baldness to rheumatism. Bear entrees are popular in restaurants, and sun bear paws are favored in Taiwan for soup.

With the habitat of the sun bear replaced with palm oil plantations, they should be no question as to wether the sun bear (Helarctos malayanus) is endangered. Please list it as so immediately as it faces the same extinction possibilities as other Sumatran animals that once called the rainforsest their home.

Daily Voice : Tell Canadian Government to Lower Grizzly Bear Hunting Quotas

Tell Canadian Government to Lower Grizzly Bear Hunting Quotas

The Grizzly Bear population in British Columbia is decreasing. However, despite this fact, the Canadian government has increased the hunting quota and opened areas previously closed to Grizzly Bear hunters.

Scientists are concerned about the decreasing population of Grizzly Bears, and worry that hunting quotas and regulations are not based on current science.  In fact, scientists say these quotas are based on bear population estimates that are 10 years old.  The Government should examine the current data and take measures to protect Grizzly bears, such as lowering quotas and placing the species on the endangered list if necessary.

Tell the Canadian government to lower grizzly bear hunting quotas to protect this animal.

Daily Voice : Help save the red gum trees of Australia from logging companies

Help save the red gum trees of Australia from logging companies

Forestry interests in Australia are calling for the logging of red gum trees in national parks.

The New South Wales Forest Industries Taskforce is backing calls for selective logging on a commercial basis. Logging supporters argue that selective logging improves forest health.

However, their claims are based on limited scientific evidence while disregarding the evidence that increased water availability will have more benefit for forest health than thinning trees.

Furthermore, red gums provide habitat for many threatened and endangered native species – and should be protected to help ensure their survival.

In addition, the call for logging of red gums is being spearheaded by a logging lobby group that wants to remove control of selective “ecological” logging from the National Parks services.

The lobby group wants selective logging handed over to logging companies so red gums can be cut down in commercial quantities.

Red gum trees need to be protected for forest health as well as for the habitat needs of native animals and birds. Moreover, management of red gums should not be handed over to those who will benefit financially from their harvesting.

Please sign and share the petition to help save the red gum trees of Australia from logging companies.

Daily Voice : No Funding to Romanian Dog Killers in the European Union

No Funding to Romanian Dog Killers in the European Union

Romania is part of the European Union but the Romanian Government does not abide by European Union Animal Welfare law/regulations yet it is still being allowed to collect billions of euros from other EU taxpayers.

Killing millions of stray dogs in Romania benefits both the Romanian Government and the thugs that are labelled Animal Control.

For a country to be seen fit to join the EU they have to prove that they are managing employment levels, and on paper these dog killers are a positive statistic, because they are classed as employed.

We ask that you remove Romania from the European Union and stop all funding until they abide by EU Animal Welfare laws and regulations.

Local Scientists & Fish & Wildlife; Save The Orcas From Demise Through Research & Planning

Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to save the Orca whales from extinction. Just recently, several Orcas were washed up on shore dead and it has scientists baffled as to what is causing these massive beings for losing their lives. We are encouraging these scientists and the Fish & Wildlife to investigate for answers so that this does not reoccur, resulting in the loss of many other Orcas and other marine life.

Recently, the body of a young Orca killer whale turned up dead on the Vancouver Island in Canada and it troubles marine mammal researchers and scientists because this is the fourth similar death of an endangered species. Two other whales died in similar situations and it is estimated that only about 77 southern resident killer whales remain in the Salish Sea where they existed.

The most recent Orca washed on shore was a young 18-year old that was carrying a full-term fetus, however researchers state that "It really tugs at the heart strings. It's a magnificent animal. Sixteen feet or so, so it's likely a juvenile. So, it's terrible and we want to figure out what the cause of death was here and how this animal died. This is even more distressing because it was a female of reproductive age. Her probability of contribution to the recovery of this population was very high, and her years of maximum importance to the population were still to come.”

Scientists believe that the Orca is one of the most contaminated marine mammals in the world and causes a great concern about losing a small population of an endangered animal like the southern killer whales. Concerns are that there is a shortage of Chinook salmon, one of the Orcas favorite foods. Vancouver Aquarium pollution researcher Peter Ross believes that it is a lack of their food, very high levels of endocrine-disrupting pollutants in these whales and possible noise disturbances in their home waters. Please support us in our efforts to end the loss of these beautiful animals the Orca through continued research and planning by signing and sharing this petition worldwide on all your media sites. The last thing we want to see is for the Orca to become extinct and on the endangered list! Please help in our mission to save the Orca.

Fire City Workers Who Dumped Deceased Dogs In Trash Yard Rather than Crematorium!!

Please sign and share to get these city workers in Kansas City fired from their jobs for tossing deceased dogs in trash bags along the side of the road rather than bring them to the crematorium as they were directed.

Kansas City, Missouri offers a free service to their residents when their dogs pass on. After a dog is deceased, the owner can simply dial the city’s 311 action line and they will come to pick up your beloved pet, which will then be cremated. The owners of these five dogs in question called as required, the dogs were picked up but instead of bringing the remains to the crematorium, these city workers simply placed them in trash bags and through them along the road in an area near 5800 Northeast Oak Ridge. The road is not far from Interstate 35 near Timber Ridge Park.

Animal control sought special investigators to look into this situation and the report shows that owners did the right thing; they call to have their deceased dogs pick up and taken for cremation but these two men picked them up but never delivered them to be cremated. This is not only morbid and disrespectful to the animals and the owners, but it is also a public health hazard. These awful monsters with no heart give other Public Workers a bad name.

Please sign and share to get these city workers in Kansas City fired from their jobs for tossing deceased dogs in trash bags along the side of the road rather than bring them to the crematorium as they were directed.

Tell Starbucks to take a real stand on GMOs and drop out of the GMA!

A recent Green America campaign petitioned Starbucks to stop using milk from GMO-fed cows in their drinks. Sadly, Starbucks continues to serve non-organic milk and hasn't communicated any intent to switch. Now, the Grocery Manufacturer's Association (GMA), of which Starbucks is a member, is suing the state of Vermont to overturn a new law to label genetically modified foods.

While Starbucks is not personally suing Vermont, their inclusion in GMA sends the message that they support the lawsuit and GMOs. Research by NPD group, inc. shows that half of U.S. consumers are concerned about genetically modified foods, and they deserve to know the source of the foods they put in their bodies and feed their families.

Starbucks has shown leadership in offering vegan options and organic and fair trade coffee. Their decision to use GMO milk and support anti-GMO labeling laws through their membership in the GMA is inconsistent with their socially and nutritionally conscious image. Please sign the petition to urge Starbucks to withdraw their support of anti-GMO labeling laws and drop out of the GMA!
