Requiring Airlines to Institute a Bill of Rights for Food Allergic Children/Adult Passengers

My son Joshua and I were horrified when United airlines refused to accommodate his life-threatening peanut allergy. Please sign my petition to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Children and adults with food allergies should be able to report their allergy without fear of being kicked off a flight. As it stands, they have no such rights and cases have been reported of people being taken off a flight for reporting a food allergy.

It should be standard that, once informed, the crew create a buffer zone at least three rows in front and three rows behind the allergic person. The crew member should ask customers seated in the buffer zone to refrain from consuming any nut containing products that they have brought onboard and the crew will not serve any nut containing products to these rows.

There are no federal guidelines to protect this growing population of consumers, either. Therefore, different flight crews on the same airlines will react differently to a food allergy request. This makes flying even more stressful and dangerous for the child or adult with an anaphylactic allergy.

Please sign the petition to ask airlines to properly accommodate food allergic passengers, and for legislators to pass regulations requiring them to do so!

Tell FWS to List the Northern Long-Eared Bat As Endangered Now!

White nose syndrome (WNS) has claimed a staggering number of northern long-eared bats since it first broke out in 2007. Already, the species has lost almost 99% of its population in just a few short years.

Last year, due to WNS and habitat loss, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finally proposed to list these bats as endangered. But the agency soon backtracked under pressure from logging and oil and gas industries that opposed the listing.

White nose syndrome is the gravest threat to North American bats that has ever been seen.

Tell FWS to take action immediately and move forward with listing the long-eared bat under the Endangered Species Act!

Stop Civet Coffee Bean Farming!

Please help these wonderful, beautiful animals that are cramped in cages and never see daylight, they're often stolen from the wild with cruel methods, separated from their families and crammed in cages where the go insane. This is cruelty, nothing deserves to be kidnapped. After production slows down they are sometimes released into the wild however more often it is the case that they die before being released or are to sick to live in the wild. You can help by simply taking 10 seconds to sign this petition.

Tell Governor Inslee: Don't Gun Down Washington's Wolves

Over the weekend the Center for Biological Diversity learned of a secret operation by Washington State's wildlife agency to send an aerial sniper to wipe out one of Washington's few existing wolf packs. The helicopter sniper already gunned down one wolf near Huckleberry Mountain and the killing will continue unless we act now. Only about 50 wolves exist in Washington and the Huckleberry pack -- a family unit with young pups that will starve if the adult wolves are killed -- is crucial to wolves' continued existence in the Pacific Northwest. There is no excuse for gunning down wolves from a helicopter when non-lethal forms of wildlife management would suffice. The agency intends to kill up to three more wolves.  It is unknown if the wolf killed this weekend was an adult or perhaps one of the pups -- or which pack members they will target next. Take action today -- send Washington Governor, Jay Inslee, a strong message: Recall the sniper and stop killing Washington's wolves.

Demand an end to fur farming in Finland/Exiga que las granjas de peleterías se cierren en Finlandia

Animals are kept in small wire cages in Finland to produce fur. This cruelty is done to maintain the livelihoods of a group of people who have traditionally been fur farmers, and because of tax income generated by the fur industry. Finland is the biggest farmer of foxes and raccoon dogs in the world, and one of the largest of minks! Tell Finnish Parliament that there are always choices, and animal abuse shouldn't take place for the sake of money!
"The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? But rather, Can they suffer?"
- Jeremy Bentham, 19th century Philosopher, Oxford University.
The Finnish fur farmers say their farms are ethical. How can that be true when mammals such as foxes and minks are kept in metal wire cages where they can’t fulfill their inherent biological needs? The fur industry is animal abuse and cruelty and it must end! Many people have expressed their concerns about the fur animals but only small improvements have been made in terms of their living conditions. Finnish fur farmers want to keep on practicing their age long tradition, and government gets their share of money made from fur industry (about 200-300 million € annually; http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkistarhaus). Some people (including politicians) have claimed that if Finland doesn’t do fur farming, China will do it instead, but China is already doing it regardless of Finland farming or not! Furthermore, supply creates markets as well as machinery for manufacture and marketing! All the nations in the world should end animal torture such as fur farming! How can people in Finland and elsewhere in the world allow fur industry to continue despite many pledges to close it down?! The Finnish people signed a historical national petition to end fur farming in 2013, with about 70.000 signatures and regardless only a handfull of Parliament members voted against fur farming. Tell Finnish Parliament that this time it must get serious, and put an end to fur farming once and for good, and thus maintain Finland's image as a highly educated, evolved country in the world!

Investigate, Find and Charge Perpetrator Who Shot 8-month Dog in Mouth and left to die!!

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to get the news out there in the Louisville, Kentucky regarding the perpetrator(s) who shot a sweet young dog in the mouth and left him on the side of the road to die!!
A dog by the name of Lad who was only 8 months old was found on the side of the road in Kentucky by animal control in severe condition. Not only was the dog extremely emaciated, it was apparent that he was shot in the mouth at close range. The poor animal’s jaw was completely broken and showed signs of debris from bone and teeth that was embedded in his gum area. It is not sure whether he was so thin prior to the shot or because he was unable to eat due to his injuries, or both.
What was apparent when discovered and examined is that Lad would need surgery to repair both sides of his mouth and jaw. The wounds were indicative of being there for several days before the dog was found. This large boy, thought to be a Collie, only weighed 41 pounds, less than half of what he should have weighed. He was a furry skeleton.
Investigators are asking for any help and tips on finding who could do such a thing to this young Collie. Someone must know something, knew someone who had a young, big dog like Lad that maybe mistreated it or no longer has it or any information that could gain justice for this poor animal. In order to get Lad the life-saving surgery he needs, the Animal Control and Arrow Fund in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking any help by the public at http://hendrickboards.com/s/love-lad. Currently he is being fed slowly and his pain is being managed through pain medications, IV fluids and IV antibiotics.
Please bring this monster to justice and share any information you can to make him accountable for the abuse to this poor, sweet, young animal. Please sign and share this petition in an effort to get the news out there in the Louisville, Kentucky regarding the perpetrator(s) who shot a sweet young dog in the mouth and left him on the side of the road to die!!=

Tell Congress: Don't Cut Home Ownership Tax Deductions

Right now, there is a discussion going on in Congress that could have a huge impact on your home and your wallet.

How? Congress is considering eliminating income tax deductions related to our homes.

If some lawmakers in Congress have it their way, we could see big changes not only to federal income tax deductions for mortgage interest and property taxes, but also a change to the homeownerâ??s capital gains exemption. What that means is that current and future homeowners would pay more taxes every year!

In these tough times we canâ??t afford to lose important deductions.

By signing our petition and sending a letter to your representative, you can tell Congress to keep our home interest deductions intact.

Daily Voice : Fight to Protect Voting Rights
« Reply #423 on: September 05, 2014, 01:07:21 PM »
Fight to Protect Voting Rights

Weâ??re facing an emergency situation. Politicians across the country are trying to silence millions of people by robbing them of their right to vote. And theyâ??re targeting specific groups of voters: people of color, the poor, people with disabilities, and students.

The November elections are fast approaching and vulnerable voters could lose their voice in this democracy if we donâ??t act now. Stand with the ACLU by pledging to take an active role in the fight for every citizenâ??s right to vote.

Many politicians, motivated solely by partisan politics, are blocking access to the ballot by requiring forms of identification that are difficult or costly to acquire. And they're cutting back early- and late-night voting hours, widely used by minority and low-income groups.

Pledge to fight back against these assaults before the critical November elections.

The ACLU's Protect the Vote Team, made up of people like you, is taking action. Weâ??re urging Congress to pass new legislation to protect the right to vote, educating the public with our "Know Your Voting Rights" resources, and spreading the word about efforts to block access to the ballot.

The ACLU has had some big victories in court and in state legislatures in the battle to protect voting rights, but weâ??ve got to keep fighting until access to the polls is easy and fair for all citizens. And we need your help.

Act now. Pledge to stand with the ACLUâ??s Protect the Vote Team and help make sure every eligible voter can cast a ballot.
