ahh the good old days

In those days they were more concerned with where the next meal was coming from than the difficulty of the bees, but there also probably was no difficulty of the bees.

But... we really shouldn't wish we were born to live then rather than born to live now. It really was not better then although at times it may seem so. The choices God gave were the same then as they are now.

Zuckerberg: Stop Defending Dirty Fossil Fuels!

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's group FWD.us has been running ads supporting an expansion of the Keystone XL pipeline and drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Why? As a political game in order to distract voters from their representatives' politically risky votes in the current session.

These are the wrong priorities for America, and we should not be using dirty, damaging projects as a political shield.

Sierra Club Executive Director said this in a statement: "Mark Zuckerberg has made comments in the past recognizing that we need to pursue a clean energy future, and there is no reason he needs to trade those principles for a few political points."

Facebook also rejected ads that called out the organization's promotion of Keystone XL. So why is Facebook now prioritizing dirty oil over free speech?

Sign this petition now to tell Mark Zuckerberg that you won't stand for his organization's promotion of dirty fossil fuels!

Power California with 100% Renewable Energy by 2030

California has the resources to supply 100% of its electricity needs with renewable sources such as solar and wind. Under current law, the state's utilities must hit a target of 33% renewables by 2020.

Experts at Stanford University have laid out a path to get to 100% clean energy by 2030. California should embrace this ambitious goal and dramatically accelerate its transition to renewables.

A clean, green electricity infrastructure will significantly curb the state's greenhouse gas emissions and provide Californians with green jobs and clean air and water. Clean energy is a sound investment in a sustainable future.

Take action: Tell the California legislature to enact legislation that mandates that 100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources by 2030.

Stand Against Ken Cuccinelli and his Radical Allies

The Susan B. Anthony List, a radical anti-choice group and Ken Cuccinelli's biggest ally, just put out a negative advertisement attacking Terry McAuliffe. But the mud they're slinging in these ads? They're attacking Terry for standing up for women's health.

If there's one thing that's clear in this race, it's that Cuccinelli's number one priority is to bring his radical social agenda to Governor's Mansion and set women's health rights back 50 years. That's why it is absolutely critical we make sure he doesn't get that chance.

Add your name: Tell Ken Cuccinelli and his radical anti-choice allies to stop attacking women's health.

Halt Toxic Dumping in Our Oceans

The U.S. Navy has been using our oceans as a staging ground for target practice for more than 30 years -- leaching highly toxic and cancer-causing chemicals into the sea. This practice, known as SINKEX, is currently exempt from laws that protect marine life from dangerous substances.

But that could change this month because the Environmental Protection Agency is considering revoking this exemption.

Through SINKEX, the Navy uses old warships for torpedo and gunnery practice -- sinking the old vessels at sea. In the past decade alone, the Navy has disposed of more than 100 vessels through this program.

Old ships contain toxic materials, some of which are known to cause cancer. When the ships are sunk, these chemicals leak into the ocean and harm its ecosystem, including fish, whales and dolphins.

Send a message to the EPA today telling them our oceans are not a toxic waste dump and that the Navy should dispose of old war ships in a safe, responsible manner.

Oh, Canada: Protect the Arctic from Oil Spills!

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is destroying Canada's environment, and now he's threatening the Arctic with oil spills.

Prime Minister Harper has made it clear that he will do whatever it takes to push through dirty oil development -- even if that means trampling on Indigenous rights and environmental protections while ignoring the risk of Arctic oil spills. Just imagine an oil spill like Deepwater Horizon happening in the Arctic.

Stephen Harper wants to stand up for dirty oil - we're standing up for people and the planet. Join us.

Now Canada is taking over as Chair of the Arctic Council, an international forum set up to ensure the health and sustainability of the Arctic region. For the next two years, the Harper government will set the agenda for the Arctic. Stephen Harper has the power to prevent Arctic oil spills from happening before they start.

Take action today and join our campaign to protect the Arctic. Tell Harper to uphold the Arctic Council's environmental agenda, and protect the Arctic from oil drilling and spills.

Canada: Support Supply Chain Transparency to End Child Labor!

At any given moment, approximately 115 million children are working in dirty, dangerous and degrading jobs. Boys and girls are trafficked or pushed in work that harms their bodies, minds, and spirits. Few can leave these jobs easily.

The Canadian government has a leadership role to play in Canada and internationally to improve awareness and understanding of where and how goods that are bought in Canada are made.  Government action has been proven to help raise awareness and support collaborative action among industries, corporations, non-profit groups to remove children from these dirty, dangerous and degrading jobs.

In order to help ensure that Canadians are contributing to the International Labour Organization’s goal of eliminating the worst forms of child labour by 2016, tell the Canadian Government to work with businesses and organizations to encourage transparency in supply chains for products sold in Canada as a key step in helping to end the worst forms of child labour.
