Daily Voice : DEMAND ALL PUPPY MILLS BE ILLEGAL ACROSS CANADA

DEMAND ALL PUPPY MILLS BE ILLEGAL ACROSS CANADA

A Life in Perpetual Pain . . .

Puppy Mills are strictly a money making business, with the facility designed purely for profit, not for the well-being of the dogs.  When we buy a pet from a store that sells puppies, we contribute to a heartless underground industry that forces dogs to spend their entire lives in cages; constantly breeding.

Dogs receive little, to no, veterinary care and often suffer from preventable diseases and painful disfigurements.  Their paws have never touched the ground but have only felt the open wire or their cages, resulting in bleeding cut paws & sores that never heal.

4 or 5 dogs are crammed together in one cage & the cages are stacked one on top of the other.  Their excrement falls on those that live below them.

Their cages are seldom or never been cleaned, the dogs have never been groomed or bathed, their coats can be long & matted which makes it very painfull for them to even move.  There are hundreds of dogs that don't get fresh water or food for days.

All you have to do is sign this petition that says ..... "WE DEMAND A LAW THAT SAYS, NO MORE PUPPY/ANIMAL MILLS IN OUR COUNTRY. WE ARE CANADIANS AND WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS."

Thank you,

jill Campbell

Bi Daily Voice : Save the Yangtze Finless Porpoise

Save the Yangtze Finless Porpoise

The Yangtze finless porpoise, which inhabits the high-traffic waters near the Three Gorges Dam in China, is critically endangered, with only about 1,000 animals alive today.

The Yangtze River, the longest river in Asia, used to be one of the only two rivers in the world that was home to two different species of dolphin—the Yangtze finless porpoise and the Baiji dolphin. However, in 2006 the Baiji dolphin was declared functionally extinct. This was the first time in history that an entire species of dolphin had been wiped off the planet because of human activity. Its close cousin, the Yangtze finless porpoise, is known for its mischievous smile and has a level of intelligence comparable to that of a gorilla.

Finless porpoises need an abundant food supply for survival. The destruction of the Baiji dolphin food supply was central to its extinction. Overfishing is the main factor that contributes to the decrease in finless porpoises’ food supply, but pollution and ship movement are factors as well.

Shell Cancels Arctic Drilling in 2014: Tell President Obama to Make It Permanent!

Great news! Shell Oil announced it will NOT drill for oil in America's Arctic in 2014!

The decision by Shell comes on the heels of a ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals stating that the Department of the Interior (DOI) violated the law when it sold offshore oil and gas leases in the Alaska's Chukchi Sea.

The Alaskan Arctic is home polar bears, beluga whales, seals and other wildlife. Drilling puts these animals at risk -- endangered by potential oil spills and stores of carbon pollution that could dramatically alter our climate if released.

Even though Shell won't be drilling this summer we know Shell won't walk away from its Arctic drilling plans in future years without more pressure!

Tell President Obama to terminate all current drilling leases and urge him to cancel all future drilling lease sales in America's Arctic Ocean.

Daily Voice : Tell Virgin to Stop Promoting Whale and Dolphin Shows

Tell Virgin to Stop Promoting Whale and Dolphin Shows

TUI, a huge international travel company based in Germany, has just removed visits to watch captive cetaceans perform from its tours. Given that captivity causes tremendous suffering to whales and dolphins, the move, although positive, was well overdue.

Other leading companies are dragging their heels, to say the least.

Virgin still, for example, offers tickets to the notorious SeaWorld - infamous for its captive orcas - under “Orlando excursions” and deals for the just as bad Georgia Aquarium under “Atlanta excursions”. It also, at least until recently, included a visit to a brutal dolphinarium in Dubai in tours, claiming the facility was a “rescue”, which it certainly was not.

Richard Branson, Virgin’s CEO, recently made strong statements against the Japanese dolphin hunts, which also happen to capture live dolphins for aquariums. It’s time for the company to back up fine words with action.

Tell Virgin to remove all excursions to watch or interact with imprisoned whales and dolphins from its travel tours, trips and deals.

Justice for Bryan

Wendell Kelley needs to be arrested and procecuted to the fullest extent.

On the morning of Febuary 10th, 2014, in Hohenwald Tennessee, Wendell Kelley, an off-duty postal worker, shot a Labrador Retriever named Bryan, in front of 13-year-old Peggy Galloway, a member of Bryan's family. Here is the full story:

Janice Galloway, Peggy’s mother had taken her husband to work that morning, leaving Peggy in bed because she had not feeling well. Janice had just dropped her husband off at work when she received a phone call from a neighbor that had witnessed the shooting, telling her that Bryan was dead, and Peggy was distraught.

Peggy had heard the first gun shot, and ran out of the house only to find it was Bryan that Kelley was shooting. Peggy yelled at Kelly to stop shooting her dog, but Kelly fired more rounds striking Bryan a total of three times which killed him.

"I was coming out the door, when I heard the first shot I was half way up the driveway when I heard the second shot," Peggy stated in an interview with New 2. "I got to the top of the road and he shot again. I was running to him and he shot again and I screamed, ‘Please don't shoot my dog!' and he wouldn't listen and then he walked by me and said he would shoot the rest of them."

In an interview with News 2, Kelley stated he was working in his driveway when the dog approached him, he then tapped the dog in the face to get it to move along, and when Bryan refused to leave, he went inside his home and grabbed his semi-automatic rifle. Kelley then walked back outside to check the mail when Bryan approached him again and that is when he opened fire.

"I'm tore up. This is like one of my kids. It's been hard," Janice stated. "He tried to say Bryan attacked him. My dog has never attacked anyone."

The Galloway family is now asking for answers, as they await the results of the Sherriff’s investigation. They have started a Justice for Bryan page on Facebook.

Daily Voice : Ask Wendy's to Help End Slavery in Florida's Tomato Fields

Ask Wendy's to Help End Slavery in Florida's Tomato Fields

Just a few years ago, the situation for workers in Florida's tomato farms was so bad that one federal prosecutor called Florida "Ground-zero for modern slavery." With the implementation of the Fair Food Program, we're now on the verge of eliminating slavery in Florida's tomato fields.

That's because theÂ? Fair Food Program has made historic progress in tackling forced labour and exploitation. A massive 90% of growers have already joined the Program, and four of the five biggest U.S. fast food giants have signed the Fair Food Agreement, investing in the fight for a slavery-free agricultural industry.

But one company stands in the way of progress: Wendy'sÂ? refuses to join the Fair Food ProgramÂ? to ensure slavery is not in its supply chain. If Wendy's follows the lead of McDonald's, Subway, Burger King and Taco Bell, their immense purchasing power could help bring the last 10% of farms to the table and ensure the tomato industry never sees another case of modern slavery.

Call on Wendy's - the final fast food hold-out - to help end slavery forever in Florida's tomato fields.

CLOSE COPENHAGEN ZOO

Despite numerous offers from zoos around the world Copenhagan zoo slaughtered Marius the Giraffe, this was a needless cruel and barbaric act.

Copenhagan zoo are guilty of animal cruelty. They allowed the risk to the female giraffe giving birth to the calf, knowing the calf would be 'surplus'.

They used the baby calf to draw in visitors then slaughtered it.

This place should not be allowed to operate they use their animals as a comodity with little regard for their health or wellbeing.

If they can display such cruelty in the face of the public, one must ask what does Copenhagen zoo do to the animals behind closed doors?

The more successful this petition the more it will send out a warning to all zoos and to the EAZA that decent people will no longer tolerate animal abuse. If everyone who signs the petition gets just 2 more people to sign it then it will have a greater impact.

I have written to the Prime Minister of Denmark and Lesley Dickie Executive Office EAZA and also the member of parliment for Europe. To date there have been no responses. I will keep you informed.

The zoo has now stopped me commenting on the website and has removed all of my postings PLEASE keep the pressure on let them have your views https://www.facebook.com/zoo

Thank you to everyone who has signed. Even the signature of  those mindless people who have been abusive count towards our cause :-)

Protect the Chesapeake Clean Water Blueprint from Special Interests

We know what's best for the waters in our backyard!

The American Farm Bureau Federation and Fertilizer Institute have recruited 20 states from outside the watershed to support their efforts to derail Chesapeake Bay restoration. Together, they're seeking to overturn the recent ruling which declared the science-based pollution limits and the clean-up plan legal. We say to these special interests and to Missouri, Kansas, Texas, Alaska, and the other states, don't tell us how to restore clean water in our backyard!

Each of the six Bay states and the District of Columbiaâ??including hard-working farmers, businesses, and individualsâ??are working together. We are well on our way to making our rivers and streams safer, improving our habitat, protecting human health, and strengthening local economies. Let us continue to do this good work for our waters and future generations.

Dead zones are shrinking. Oyster populations are rebounding. We can't let these statesâ??spurred by Big Agriculture and fertilizer lobbyists who put their profits ahead of clean waterâ??undermine what could be our last chance to save the Bay. Not now, just when the Bay's recovery is picking up speed!

Tell Alaska, Utah, Montana, Kansas, and the other states backing these lobbyists: Don't tell us how to restore clean water in our backyard!
