1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. 2 And devout men buried Stephen, and made great lamentation over him. 3 But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison.

I wonder if Paul had committed these crimes after conversion - if he would still have have been saved or guilty ...

Being that he was working for the government of that time "he was seen as doing the right thing"

Taking it a bit further ....

I suppose if you see t as "Paul always being God's [as in born again] then Paul had already committed these crimes [as one of God's people]

And if Paul "being chosen by God" was right in the eyes of the govermning  authorities at that time..


It just goes to show "how far off God's target the pharisees really were
