The bible mentions His people to be the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the world.
Here the world shows the context of earth.

Also Jesus is the ultimate light of the world. The world needs the Light of Christ. The earth needs Salt because it otherwise loses its flavour and is trampled underfoot .

How can these references to world and earth be refered to world in context of the elect.

In accepting these mean world, then surely there needs to be an understanding that world means the earth in John 3:16

Hi Brightfame52
Thank you for your post have you considered this.

Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen

Do you think the God of Love would  be content with saving jest a few souls out of all the millions that have lived on earth

Thank you Primrose for those good posts looking forward  to more

More on Jn 3:16

Many have tried to use this verse to teach the lie that God loved all of mankind, but that is not even what the verse states. Salvation and the Love of God were not privileged secluded to the ethnic jews. Through Christ, the middle wall of partition is broken down Eph 2:11-16

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Gal 3:28-29

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Col 3:11

11Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

There simply is no national, or political distinctions in the New Covenant, which is in Christ Blood 1 Cor 11:25

25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

God never lies when he said

    Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen

He meant exactly that and through the chosen many are called and will be saved.

     Mat 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance

Why would our Lord call sinners to repentance if only the chosen will be saved makes no sense.

More on Jn 3:16

Now many today have a meaning to the word world in Jn 3:16, they erroneously have it meaning all men and women without exception or the whole human race, but that's not what Jn 3:16 states or means. This fabrication does not pass the test of scripture. For example Jn 1:10 58

10He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

In this one verse we find the word world [kosmos] with three different meanings. The first instance means, He lived on this earth, He tabernacled among men, Second it means He created all things, He created the orderly arrangement, and third, the word world primarily means the Jewish world were He conducted His Ministry, and who hated Him without cause. So in this one verse alone we have diverse meanings, none of which honestly means all mankind without exception. Wherever the word world is found it should be subject to its context, a word should not dictate a subject, but the subject the word.

Hi Brightfame52
Thank you for your reply as for

    Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not

It means exactly what it says I don't think changing the words of scripture is what God wants God wants us to know him and to Love him and because of that he made his word as easy as possible to understand you don't need to be  collage professor to understand it God wants everyone to know who he is what he has done what he is doing and what he will do in the future.
He wants as many as possible to be saved

     1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth

This is what God wants but the decision lies with all those who are not of the chosen few they have to turn to God through baptism and be reborn as children of Christ and his bride.

More on Jn 3:16

Now lets look at Jn 15:18-19

18If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

In these Two verses the word world is used several times but it is limited to the meaning of those who persecuted them who stood for the Truth ! The word is never used here as all mankind without exception !

Not sure it was a myth or mistake by God.

It's revolving around the  scripture that says "For God Loved the world so much" as in John 3:16...

Your correct "it doesn't mean God loves evil or those that do it"

But the invitation is given to all "who might believe"...

Then I can complicate things by introducing the Spiritual/spiritual/ and the interactions between the two - with people/ now /today/.

It simply means we all have the opportunity  to believe....

God is not a respecter of persons.... in other words "the Jews thought they were God's special people" God then speaks "through scripture"  to tell them the gentiles are also chosen.. so scripture changes as God continues to change us.

Will we still read scripture in eternity .. no because we will have the Author, .of our faith, the One we chose to believe in. who was always there  waiting..

That is why scripture is told to be a living Word...

Now take Saul a murderer of Christians "loved by God" now God is coming from the other direction God  turns Saul into Paul.

A pharisee ? no "brood of vipers" worse than the gentiles - might as well invite someone with leprosy into your home.

So God did..

Opposite side of the coin, flip a coin today , heads or tails..
