Good scripture  as in "Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."

Both were chosen - compare with cain and abel..

We are now dividing the argument..beyond scripture and  today.

So now today , how do you know  whom God loves and whom He hates ?

God's Love to His Elect, which began from Everlasting , by choosing them in Christ, yet it never changes, even when they sinned in Adam their natural head, or even when they themselves enter into the world by natural generation and begin their personal transgressions, being BY NATURE children of wrath as are others[the non elect], as God has always Loved them, He changes them, converts them by giving them a New Birth from above, and hence they come to Love Him, because He first Loved them ! So God's Love makes a difference and change in them, beginning by His making them alive or quickening them while dead in Sins, so Paul writes of them Eph 2:4-5

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved )

If anyone does not experience this quickening together with Christ because of God's great Love for them, then God did not Love them at all !

A wide range of people will say something different in answers. If they are asked if they think that God loves them.

Among them are "God doesn't love me , even though I want Him too and God loves others." That runs parallel to the theme of the thread.
I've heard atheists and agnostics in general  say that sort of thing.
Then most Christians say "God loves everyone."

I can't help but feel for these people who feel they have no hope or no comfort, even when they care for others so much.
Even that is not recognised by God because we don't earn our salvation.

It's great to experience the love of God and I have done. Only Brightfame you make me feel like I'm not a child of God destined for eternal hell and I experience what it's like for other people. Especially those who really do want to experience the love of God.

I said these view point ( it's not mine) to an unbeliever who said " that makes sense and you understand why so many don't have faith in God. It really does look like God favours some but not others. Even those who suffer in their life. Suffer injustices and their heart is for caring for others.

This viewpoint gives no light in the darkness but only to a few. It's all about them but not the rest and hurts so much.

Hi Primrose
Thank you for another good post as I have said before

For many are called, but few are chosen.?
Matthew 22:14 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.22.14.ESV

The last person chosen by God was St Paul we have no scriptural proof  that anyone after him has been chosen which means if Brightfame52 is correct and only the chosen can be saved no one after St Paul can be saved which of course is ludicrous.
The 12 Apostles were sent into the world to preach the gospel to the whole world that as many that believed in Jesus Christ would be saved and it is their choice they must choose to love God through Jesus Christ and to love their neighbours which would include their enemies.
Love is a free will gift from the heart God cannot make us love him it would not be love and God wants our freewill gift of LOVE.

Love and Peace
 Dave

Perception of Eternal Love !

The Love that God has for His Own People is a Love perceived by them to be from Everlasting, David's perception of a Love that God had in His People from Old, or Everlasting Ps 25:6

Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

David like all True Saints, know of God's Eternal Love for them in Christ Jesus Rom 8:39, and that His Mercies for their Salvation is from Everlasting to Everlasting Ps 103:17

But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

Jer 31:3

3 The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

This is the only Love God has, and it is not for those whom He did not choose in Christ before the world began Jn 17:23-24

23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Of course born again children of God experience the love of God.
Only since the children of God are  not perfected they carry the old nature with them, and as Paul described the conflict of the old and new nature.

Consequently And generally speaking, many children of God can have experiences of feeling rejected by God, although it's not true.

Even David expressed this in the Psalms as he also expressed God's eternal love.

Without acknowledging that we are saying that the children of God are perfected overnight, and  are not taking into consideration the journey Inbetween from glory to glory.

It's also not considering the things that people go through in general that can affect the way they feel God perceives them. Such as not having love in their early family home life  and consequently carrying that into their relationship with God.
Until God heals that.

Without these considerations there's a suggestion that these real life things haven't been experienced but they have.

We need to experience a humility within the love of God.

God's love is selflessness, humble and reaching out to others, wanting the best for them, especially wanting them to have eternal life within Jesus.

I'm finding that a lot of other view points from this thread, and other questions are not being considered or answered but are skirted around.

There's this that can be considered:

And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. Mark 6:34

Therefore who is the crowd that Jesus had compassion for?
Were they just the elect?

Is it wrong  for us to have compassion then?
And where would compassion come from if it didn't come from God?
I don't mean by the world's standards but surpassing that.
