Hi eik
I would like to ask you why you do not seem to believe the scriptures as they are written lets look at this verse.

Exo 34:24 For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year

To me if God says he will cast out the nations before Israel then that's what he did all Israel had to do was go in and take possession.
When Israel began to disobey Gods laws God withdrew and Israel began to fight to retain there land.

Love and Peace
Dave
I interpret that completely differently. I interpret it as the Canaanites fleeing before the Israelites. I interpret it as victory in battle (Exo 17:8-17).

1Ch 19:18
"But they fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand of their foot soldiers. He also killed Shophak the commander of their army."

I interpret it by what the bible tells us actually happened, not by what might have happened according to an unprovable doctrine.

I don't interpret it at all I just believ what it says

This has nothing to do with Israel entering the promised land that Israel fought with all the nations around them I am not contesting all I am saying is when Israel first entered the promised land they had no opposition God had removed it.

You're wrong. Check out the passage I just quoted. Exo 17:8-17.

Hi Eik
Thank you for your reply but I think you will find this was before Israel entered the promised land Moses was dead when Joshua entered into the promised land so this battle was before because Moses was still alive.

Jos 6:21
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

Jos 7:3
And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

I really can't figure out what you're saying. You cite no verses. You simply dogmatize on certain points. It is clear that Israelites had to destroy and smite in order to possess.

All this happened after they entered the promised land when they entered there was no resistance as God had promised

Jos 3:10  And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

Like the Gypsy who came round the back of my house to steal something. When he first set foot on my property, he encountered no resistance. When he came round the back of my house he did?

Still don't know what point you're trying to make.

Hi
The point is that all credit should go to God it was through him that Israel possessed the promised land.
