Hi
Hope everyone has had a good Christmas
Moving on.

And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, ?Who are you?? He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, ?I am not the Christ.? And they asked him, ?What then? Are you Elijah?? He said, ?I am not.? ?Are you the Prophet?? And he answered, ?No.? So they said to him, ?Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?? He said, ?I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ?Make straight the way of the Lord,? as the prophet Isaiah said.?
John 1:19-‬23 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.19-23.ESV

Here we have John the Baptist explaining who he is not the Christ but he has been sent before him to announce his coming as prophicide by Isaiah it's wonderful how our Lord always tells us in advance what is going to happen and it always do down to the letter.

A voice cries:  ?In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord ;  make straight in the desert a highway for our God.   Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.   And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together,  for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.?
Isaiah 40:3-‬5 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/isa.40.3-5.ESV

Yes the glory of the Lord was revealed when the son of God was revealed to the world what a wonderful day that was.

Love and peace

Hi
Moving on

(Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.) They asked him, ?Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?? John answered them, ?I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know, even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.? These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
John 1:24-‬28 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.24-28.ESV

The idea of baptism comes from when Israel came out of Egypt and passed through the red sea but that generation died in the desert and then the new generation passed through the Jordan River a second baptism this mirrors what was going to happen in the future first we would receive a water baptism to be reborn into the body of Christ then we would receive the spiritual baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire.
So let us not be content with water baptism but push on and get submerged into the water of Gods  word and get baptized with the Holy Spirit.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ?Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, ?After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.? I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.?
John 1:29-‬31 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.29-31.ESV

Here we have John the Baptist witnessing about Jesus that he is the son of God who takes away our sins he also bares witness that he came before him indicating he is from the beginning through him all things were created.
John the Baptist was sent into the world to to inform Israel that their Messiah had come.

Hi
Moving on

And John bore witness: ?I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ?He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.? And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.?
John 1:32-‬34 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.32-34.ESV

Here John continues to confirm that Jesus is the Christ and why he had been told by God what to look for the holy Spirit  would descend and remain on the Messiah who is the son of God.
This is the first time a man had received the Spirit in full measure and it had stayed with him although the spirit of God had spoken  through people in the OT it had not remained in them but returned to God whe it had fulfilled Gods purpose.
But Christ would retain the Spirit and he would use it to prove who he was through all the miracles he would perform.

Hi
Moving on

The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, ?Behold, the Lamb of God!? The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, ?What are you seeking?? And they said to him, ?Rabbi? (which means Teacher), ?where are you staying?? He said to them, ?Come and you will see.? So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.
John 1:35-‬39 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.35-39.ESV

Here John declares Jesus to be Gods lamb and as such he would be sacrificed for the sins of the world Gods wonderful gift to the world.
And here we have the first decipels that were join and follow Christ even today there are those who turn and follow Christ it is never to late.

Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts

Hi
Moving on

One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter?s brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, ?We have found the Messiah? (which means Christ). He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ?You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas? (which means Peter ).
John 1:40-‬42 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.40-42.ESV

Here we see Jesus choosing his first decipels  here he changes Simon name to Peter which means rock and later on he has this to say

And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock  I will build my church, and the gates of hell  shall not prevail against it.  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed  in heaven.?
Matthew 16:18-‬19 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/mat.16.18-19.ESV

So I think we need to pay close attention to what Peter and all the apostles have to say for everything they say is the word of God and is approved of Christ in the above scripture

Hi
Moving on

43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, ?Follow me.? 44Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ?We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.? 46Nathanael said to him, ?Can anything good come out of Nazareth?? Philip said to him, ?Come and see.? 47Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, ?Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!?

here we see Christ choosing who would become his Apostles after his resurrection until then they would be disciples and follow him after his resurrection they would be sent out to preach the gospel so a disciple is one who follows and an apostle is one who is sent.

Love and Peace

Hi
moving on

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, ?Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!?  Nathanael said to him, ?How do you know me?? Jesus answered him, ?Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.?  Nathanael answered him, ?Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!? Jesus answered him, ?Because I said to you, ?I saw you under the fig tree,? do you believe? You will see greater things than these.?
John 1:47-‬50 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.1.47-50.ESV

Here we see Jesus knew exactly  who he would choose even before they met him proving that everything has been planed from the foundation of the world and absolutely nothing could possibly thwart Gods plan.
And we also have Nathaniel witness of who Christ is the son of God and King of Israel and not only Israel but King of the whole earth at his second coming.

Love and Peace
