Hi
Moving on

And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
John 14:29-‬31 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.14.29-31.ESV

So our Lord has told his decipels thing that would shortly take place so that when they do take place they will believe this is true of all prophecies throughout scripture the all prove That God is in control and all his prophecies have come true and will come true
He now indicates that he will not be with them much longer and tells them the ruler of the world is coming who of course is satan and we know this to be true because there is a great evil in the world.

Then if what you say is true why is the gospel being preached around the world if only elect can be saved.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on

?I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you. ?I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.
John 16:1-‬4 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.1-4.ESV

Our Lord has told his decipels all these things so that they would not fall away to strengthen them so that they would remain faithful through all the trials they would shortly have to face as our Lord explains to them.
Not any of those chosen by our Lord would have it easy in the world but knowing everything that was coming they could endure all things.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

But now I am going to him who sent me, and none of you asks me, ?Where are you going?? But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
John 16:5-‬7 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.5-7.ESV

Now our Lord has told them everything that was shortly going to happen and they were sad but the Lord tells them it was a good thing that he was going away because he would send them a helper who is the HolySpirit who would teach them all things and would be there to help them through all the trials and hardships that awaited them.

Love and Peace

Hi
Moving on

And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
John 16:8-‬11 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.8-11.ESV

Here our Lord is speaking of the Holy Spirit who would come to the 12 apostle and through their preaching those who believe will be saved.
Our Lord will return to the Father and from there will oversee the work of the apostles through the Holy Spirit.
He also tells them the ruler of the world is judged the ruler being satan who will be removed durring the millennium but will be released for a short time at the end of the millenium the final test of believers.

Hi
Moving on

?I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
John 16:12-‬15 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.12-15.ESV

Here our Lord tells his Decipels he has many things to tell them they must wait for the spirit which will tell them everything it is not the spirit that speaks but God speaking through the spirit so everything that Christ has will be given to them and they will preach salvation to the world.

Love and Peace
Dave

Hi
Moving on

?A little while, and you will see me no longer; and again a little while, and you will see me.? So some of his disciples said to one another, ?What is this that he says to us, ?A little while, and you will not see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?; and, ?because I am going to the Father???
John 16:16-‬17 ESV

Hi
Here our Lord is telling his decipels what is shortly to take place he is speaking of his crucifixion and resurrection nothing like this had ever happened before so its little wonder they were confused nothing like what was going to happen had ever happened before but it had bean prophesied in Isaiah 53 worth a look.

Hi
Moving on

So they were saying, ?What does he mean by ?a little while?? We do not know what he is talking about.? Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, ?Is this what you are asking yourselves, what I meant by saying, ?A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me??
John 16:18-‬19 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.18-19.ESV

Here we see the decipels confused they couldn't understand what our Lord was saying which is not surprising nothing like what was about to happen had ever happend before.
Its easy for us to understand what our Lord was saying because we know what was to happen after the crucifixion and resurrection something that had never happend before or since so we can understand the decipels confusion.

Hi
Moving on

Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into joy. When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
John 16:20-‬21 ESV
https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.16.20-21.ESV

Here our Lord is trying to tell his Decipels what was going to happen nothing like it had ever happend before so it was hard to explain he was trying to explain he would die and be buried then he would rise again and they would see him again and they would de overjoyed.
Our Lord likens it to a woman giving birth and in a way this is very true for through his crucifixion and resurrection it would give birth to eternal life to all those who would believe.

Love and Peace
