Have you never heard of symbolism?
Jesus also talked about eating his flesh, but you are not offering samples of him to eat!

The talk of drinking his blood and eating his flesh were symbolic of identifying very closely with Jesus.

Salvation is by faith, not by drinking a magic drink.

Yes the blood is a symbol of a drink he makes . This drink is called living water. Think where is the fountain where the water of alive? Since this water is alive he calls it blood. It is full of life force.

Salvation from suffering and death is given when you have some of this symbolic "blood".

"So Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day"

John 6:53

Hi
Just thought I'd put in my two peneth for what there worth.
The water is the word of God which washes us clean so that we can receive the blood which is Holy Spirit the life is in the blood the Holy Spirit is the life blood of the body of Christ his bride the church.
When the Roman soldier plunged his spear into our Lords side and water and blood came out then from these the woman the church was created it's  the same story we have in Genesis when Eve was created.

The living water is blood it is a real drink called the elixir of life. Does reading the word cure your physical thirst. No only the real living water can do that. As far as thirst for knowledge that can be cure with the word but that is much too advanced first cure your physical thirst FIRST. Then move on to more complex nourishment as the word.

Hi Eric1
Thank you for your post But I believe the water is the word of God

Eph 5:26  That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

And I believe spirit is the Blood of the spiritual beings

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
The life is in the Blood

So what do you drink when you are physically thirsty? The water here is phyiscal water, the women even asks where she can get some so she will not have to come back

"But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a fount of water springing up to eternal life. The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water so that I will not get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water. "

John 4:15

Jesus speaks of physical thirst again here

"Jesus answered, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst."

John 6:35

Reading does not cure your thirst. If you read the word of god but do not drink and eat then you will die.

But if you drink the living water you will not need to drink water and will not be thirsty.

What cures thirst in the bible olive oil and wine.

"They crush olives among the terraces; they tread the winepresses, yet suffer thirst."
Job 24:11

Here these people have wine and oil yet suffer thirst. The fact is odd since they have oil and wine they should not go thirsty.

If you just read you will die of thirst. Sure there is a certain hunger for knowledge but this can only really be addressed AFTER you have eternal life of through the blood of Jesus.

Thats right physical drink supersedes knowledge as far as the fundamental needs go.

IF you still don't believe that you don't need living water to cure your thirst than you are in extreme denial.

My church brother talked about having the water and said that he was not thirsty even after going to the gym and he ONLY had 8oz.

Hi Eric1
Thanks for your reply yes of course we need to drink water it is essential to life without it we die.
In like manner the water of the word of God is essential to our spiritual life if we are to inherit eternal life it is also essential we eat the bread that came down from heaven which of course is our Lord Jesus Christ.
So The water and the bread which gives eternal life are spiritual
