And again, that "someone new" needs to be someone who believes the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with a 1st day of the week resurrection, and who thinks that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb, and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was employing common figure of speech/colloquial language of the period.

Hi rstrats
For my self the words of our Lord are enough which are

Mat 12:40  For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

That's what he said and that's what happened  should we question the word of God

Hi rstrats
If I offended you then I apologise I used the word we in general terms the point I was trying to make was should we jest believe Gods word
I suppose thats easy for a believer to say but its very difficult to convince a non believer that Gods word is true they want explanations no good saying God made the world and everything in it they want to know how he did it.
And this can apply to many things in scripture which are hard to explain but as believer's we must believe and spread Gods word because.

Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart

Thats why I like to post some scripture in my posts in the hope it will catch the eye of an unbeliever and set them on the path of bible study

Love and Peace
Dave

No need to.  I was merely curious about what I might have written to cause your comment in so far as it applied to this topic's issue.

Since it's been awhile, perhaps someone new looking in may know of examples.

And those comments deal with issues for a different topic.  This one is concerned with one issue and only one issue.

Hi rstrats
Thanks for the wake up call of course our Lord answers this question when he says

40  For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

There is a spiritual side to this e know that with the Lord a day is a thousand years fom Noah to the time of Christ was 4000 years 4 days on day 4 Christ ascended into heaven and has been there for days 5 and 6 so thats 3 days and he will rise on the 7th day to take up his rightful place as king of kings and will reign for a thousand years.
The physical is a mirror image of spiritual.

Love and Peace
Dave
